Durant Durant: Hungry Like The Wolf

Public Service Announcement:  Ok, here we go!  What’s crack-a-lacking sports fans?  I’ll tell you what’s crack-a-lacking.  Kevin Durant is crack-a-lacking.  That’s what’s crack-a-lacking.  Every day this kid just gets better.  Anything you can be, I can be greater.  Sooner or later, I’m greater than you.  I’m picking sooner.  In fact, I’m picking today.  Don’t look now folks, Kevin Durant has arrived.  Here I am baby.  Signed, sealed, delivered, I’m yours!   Last night, Kevin Durant delivered 28 points and led a third-quarter surge that gave Oklahoma City a huge cushion, and the Thunder withstood a late run by Utah in a 104-94 win.  Hooray Kevin Durant!        

Dollar Bill Simmons got this one right.  You might remember Dollar Bill Simmons said, Kevin Durant has the ”gene that allows him to catch fire like an NBA Jam character and make you think, Hey, he might spring for 50.”  You might remember Dollar Bill Simmons said, “ Kevin Durant is wired like Bird and the rest.  He’s cold-blooded, living to silence hostile crowds.”  Last night, Durant caught fire like an NBA Jam character.  Last night, Durant lived to silence a hostile crowd. 

Yes sports fans, Kevin Durant scored 28 points last night.  Big deal you say?  Who cares you say?  I say, that gives him 407 points this season.  I say that gives him 407 points in just 15 games.  How about that?  How about this:  Only three other players in league history had as many as 400 points over the first 15 games of a season at age 21 or younger.  Only LeBron James.  Twice.  Get the papers. Get the papers.  And only Shaq Daddy and MJ himself.  That’s it.  That’s the list.

Let the word go forth from this time and place, to Thunder fans and NBA fans alike, that the torch has been passed to a new generation of basketball player.  The torch has been passed to Kevin Durant.  Enjoy it.  You are enjoying history.
