Michah Owings: Baseball Player

Public Service Announcement:  Ok, here we go!  Football coach Bear Bryant once brought USC running back Sam Bam Cunningham into the Alabama locker room after a game and told his players, “This is what a football player looks like.” Well, take a look at the picture to your left. That my friends, is what a baseball player looks like.  Yesterday, Micah Owings hit a pinch-hit solo bomb with two outs in the ninth inning to send the Reds to extra innings in their loss to the Cardinals.  A bomb that made Will Leitch himself twitter, “Micah Owings, you have got to be freaking kidding me!”  How about that?  How about this?  That was the second game-tying pinch homer of Owings’s career.  Yowza!  The only other pitcher to do that even once over the last fifty years was the imitable Brooks Kieschnick of the Brewers, who did it in 2003 and 2004.
