To Russia I flew but there and then,
I suddenly knew you’d care again. My running around is through. I fly to you, from Russia with love. -James Bond
Public Service Announcement: Ok, here we go! Everybody’s yipping about Martin Brodeur. Everybody’s yapping about Alexander Ovechkin. Yipping and yapping. Flipping and flapping. What about this guy? What about the guy who leads the league in points? What about the guy who leads the league in assists? What about the guy who is leading the Pittsburgh Penguins’ surge back into respectability? An 8-0-2 surge back into respectability. What about Evgeni Malkin?
Last night, Evgeni Malkin notched five points against the Atlanta Thrashers. It was the third point that was the most important point. The point break. 100% pure adrenaline. With 100% pure adrenaline Geno became the first NHL player to reach the 100-point plateau this season. With ten games left in the season and a ten-point cushion over teammate Sidney Crosby and a twelve point cushion over Ovie, the Art Ross Trophy already has his name on it. What about the Hart?
Just so you know, not that you care, in each of the past five seasons, the player that won the scoring title, Ovechkin, Crosby, Joe Thornton, Martin St. Louis and Peter Forsberg, also won the Hart Memorial Trophy for the league’s MVP. So why not Malkin? Why not now?
Peace out homies. Six two and Even!
