Oh we can beat them, for ever and ever. Then we can be heroes. Just for one day. -David Bowie
Public Service Announcement: Ok, here we go! You know what time it is. It’s getting late early around here. No time. Trying to get a watch repaired. No time. Never got a thing to wear. Hear the ringin’ of the telephone, no no. It ain’t the telephone that’s ringing. It’s the playoffs baby, playoffs. NFL playoff football. Win or go home! Who will roll? Ahhh, the next great human drama. Like my main man Tom Landry always says, “Football is an incredible game. Sometimes it’s so incredible, it’s unbelievable.” Amen, my man. Amen!
That’s not the only time it is. It’s circle the wagons time. Nobody circles the wagons like the Buffalo Bills Josh Q. Public. No time to speak softly and carry a big stickie today. Gotta yell and throw a cement brickie today. Got my Patriots hoodie on again. Circling the wagons again. Waving my red white and blue flaggons again. Slaying some dragons again.
I haven’t had to circle the wagons like this in a long time. A vey long time. This long:
I have to now. The Patriots must win two. The Patriots must win two without Tom Brady. It takes two to make a thing go right. It takes two to make it outta sight. Hit it! Just win two. That’s all they can do. Kill ‘em all and let God sort it out.
I’ll take my chances with Matt Cassel. I’ll go to the dances with Matt Cassel. Put all my finances on Matt Cassel. I know he’s no Tom Brady. He doesn’t have to be. He doesn’t have to out run the bear, he just has to out run you. He out ran the Raiders last week. In what can only be described as an heroic performance, fresh off the death of his father, Matt Cassel did not waver. He did not tire. He did not falter. He not fail. He just went out and methodically dismantled the Raiders. He has been methodically dismantling a lot of teams this season. He does it with his legs. He does it with his arm. He does it with his head.
Yes folks, without Tom Brady, the New England Patriots are still in the hunt. With Mighty Matt Cassel at the helm, the Patriots are playing their best football when it counts. He’s a goddamn quarterback! He’s the leader of a team. A team who will break their ribs and their noses and their necks for him, because they believe. ‘Cause he makes them believe. He’s making us all believe. Mighty Matt Cassel, that’s a quarterback!
