Now I’ve heard of everything. Normally, the gentle slope in front of Braunlage’s town hall in Germany is a pretty quiet place during the winter. Beginning skiers practice their first turns, parents plop their children on sleds, and vacationers get a chance take some in some fresh air. Not this weekend. This weekend, 14,000 screaming fans unexpectedly turned out for a naked sledging contest sponsored by a local radio station. In case you care, 26-year-old Christian Schmidt from Blankenburg in Saxony-Anhalt won the race. Second place winner Anastasia: “I’m finished, all I want now is a hot bath.” Me too. A cold one.
