It’s so on today. And by it, I mean College Basketball. And by on, I mean games – and lots of them, too. Some of them are even meaningful. This is the beauty of College Basketball, it can be pretty boring throughout the year, but when March comes around it gets good – I mean REALLY GOOD. So we here at JPQ decided that as a public service we would help guide you through a busy day with our can’t miss plan. Here’s what your going to need to do: find a comfy chair, adequate food and beverages (if you’re a rookie – pace yourself), and keep your remote handy.
If I told you that there was a college basketball game today that pitted two conference rivals, both ranked in the top 10, would that be something you’d be interested in? Sure you would, probably because you’d assume it meant a Duke vs North Carolina matchup (wrong). Ohio St vs Michigan St (wrong again). Syracuse vs Georgetown (not quite). In actuality, the game was #6 San Diego St and #7 BYU. Nope, that’s wasn’t a typo. San Diego St and BYU (quick, what the San Diego St nickname)?
As major league teams prepare for the amateur draft tomorrow, the name on everyone’s mind (especially those leading the Washington Nationals) is San Diego State righty and uber-prospect Stephen Strasburg. One look at his mind-blowing college numbers – hello 9.65 K/BB ratio in 87.1 IP this year! – and it is not hard to see why. It is the contract numbers of approximately $50 million over six years that Strasburg’s agent Scott Boras might seek, however, which are currently in the limelight.
