I’m a need a double, bring it on a double. Yeah! A bottle each hand, I’m the fuckin’ man. Yeah! -Lloyd Banks
Last year, in the NFL, we had the Year of the Qaurterback. Last year in MLB, we had the Year of the Pitcher. This year, in the NBA, we have the Year of the Double-Double. Double, double toil and trouble, fire burn, and caldron bubble. Double, double toil and trouble, something wicked this way comes. Something wicked came this way last night. Last night, Dwight Howard registered his 26th consecutive double-double with 31 points and 22 rebounds in Orlando’s overtime win at Milwaukee. Hooray Dwight Howard! For those of you keeping score at home, that’s the longest such streak of Howard’s NBA career as well as a Magic franchise record. But he’s not the only one. He’s not the lonely one. Not the eau de colognely one. Kevin Love had 53 game double-double streak. Blake Griffin had a 27 game double-double streaks. Both longer than Howard. How about that? How about this: This is the first season in almost 40 years in which at least three NBA players have had streaks of more than 25 consecutive games with double-doubles. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (separate streaks of 39 and 29 games), Dave Cowens (37) and Spencer Haywood (37) all had such streaks in 1971-72. Ain’t that somethin’? Sure it is. Now don’t say I never gave you nothin’. Y’all come back now, ya hear?

(ESPN 7PM ET) What a night, what a night! A late December back in ’63 night. A very special time for me night. Double the action. Double your pleasure. Double your fun. First up, it’s the Bulls at Orlando. First up, it’s Dwight Howard. Dwight Howard, strange visitor from another planet who came to earth with powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal men! Howard has been off the MVP radar for a little there. He ain’t off it no more. This cat has simply been on a tear and was just rewarded by being named the East’s player of the month for February. Derrick Rose who? Next up its the Heat at San Antonio. Next up its the best of the West versus a beast of the East. The Heat have plenty prove. The Spurs don’t have to prove nothin’ to nobody. With their last victory, the Spurs tied Magic Johnson’s Lakers for the all-time NBA record with 12 consecutive 50-win seasons. Like my main The Big Fundamental always says, “Good, better, best. Never let it rest. Until your good is better and your better is best.” Who’s good? Who’s best? Stay tuned! Don’t touch that dial! Get your popcorn ready!

This one scares me. Scares me more than ObamaCares me. Scares me more than Stephen Colbert and a big bad bears me. Without Kendrick Perkins manning the post for my beloved Boston Celtics, who’s gonna stop this guy? Without Kendrick Perkins manning the post for my beloved Boston Celtics, who’s gonna stop this strange visitor from another planet who came to earth with powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal men? Last night, Dwight Howard scored 40 big points. Last night, Dwight Howard hauled in 15 big rebounds. Last night, Dwight Howard rejected six big shots in Orlando’s win over Oklahoma City. Hooray Dwight Howard! Big deal, you say? Who cares, you say? I say it was the second time in his career that Howard had such a game. I say he had 45 points, 19 rebounds and eight blocks against Charlotte on February 17, 2009. I say Howard is now only the sixth player in NBA history to have more than one game of 40+ points, 15+ rebounds and at least six blocked shots since 1973-74, the first season the NBA started compiling blocks. The others to do it were Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Patrick Ewing, Bob Lanier, Bob McAdoo and Larry Nance. I also say he would never have such a game with Kendrick Perins D’ing him up. With Nenad Kritic D’ing him up? Now that’s a scary thought.

(TNT 8PM ET) This off-season, LeBron James took his talents to South Beach. This off-season, Dwight Howard was none-to-happy about it. Dwight Howard said stuff. He said stuff like, “We’re trying to take their heads off!” Yikes! Sounds like Mike Tyson. Sounds like, “I want to rip out his heart and feed it to him. I want to kill people. I want to rip their stomachs out and eat their children. Praise be Allah!” The last time these two teams met, Dwight Howard made good 0n his threat. The last time these two teams met, Dwight Howard had 24 points and 18 rebounds as he led the Magic over the Heat by nine. This time, Howard may put up similar numbers, but he’s not walking away with the W. After a rough few weeks, the Miami Heat are starting to flex again. After a few rough weeks, the Heat are once again looking like the team that won 21 out of 22 games in December and early January. After a few rough weeks, they’ve won three straight and four out of their last five. They’re starting to look like real basketball team. Five players on the floor functioning as one single unit. Team, team, team! No one more important that the other. Well LeBron’s a little more important, but still. But still, get your popcorn ready!

They might say hi, and I might say hey, but you shouldn’t worry, about what they say. ‘Cause they got nothin’ on yoooooooou , baby. Nothin’ on yooooooou, baby. -B.O.B.
Public Service Announcement: Ok, here we go! He is, he is Superman and he can do anything. That’s right, faster than a speeding bullet! More powerful than a locomotive! Able to rip down 20 boards in a single night! Look! Up in the sky! It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s Dwight Howard!

(TNT 8PM ET) Old School v. New School. George Reeves v. Christopher Reeve. LeBron is LeBron but I’m watching this game to watch this match-up. This is the matchup everyone is talking about. Well, maybe not everyone. But I am anyways. That’s enough. Ain’t it? Sure it is. Shaq has been enough lately. He’s had the right stuff lately. All that and some Marshmallow Fluff lately. Cavs assistant coach Mike Malone thinks so: “Shaq is playing with so much confidence down there right now. No matter whom he is facing — Dwight Howard or Brook Lopez — we’re going to go to him, milk him and run the offense through him.” Get your popcorn ready!

Warn the town, the beast is loose. Ah-ah-ah ah. Word ‘em up y’all. C’mon! -Fugees
Public Service Announcement: Ok, here we go! I know I just wrote about this guy yesterday. I know, and I don’t care. As long as Dwight Howard keeps doing stuff worth writing about, I’m gonna write about it. He did stuff worth writing about yesterday, boyeeeeeee! He scored 24 points and grabbed 16 rebounds in the Magic’s 114-102 win at Madison Square Garden yesterday, boyeeeeee! Just so you know, that was Howard’s 105th 15/15 game of his career. Just so you know, that is by far the most in the NBA since Howard’s debut in 2004. Just so you know, only two players have even half as many 15/15 games as Howard during that time. Only Kevin Garnett (76) and only Tim Duncan (57). Just so you know, Dwight Howard is good.

Magic 95 Celtics 90: Dwight Howard had his cape on again last night. Last night, Dwight Howard flew into Boston and put up sixteen big points. Last night, Dwight Howard flew into Boston and pulled down twenty-two big rebounds. That doesn’t happen very often. The last visiting player to fly into Boston for the playoffs and put up those kind of numbers, sixteen points and twenty-two-or-more rebounds numbers, was Jerry Lucas for the Cincinnati Royals back in 1966.
We Boston fans can only hope that maybe this guy that flies is just sort of passing through, you know? But like Lex Luthor always says, “Passing through? Not on your life; which I would gladly sacrifice, by the way, for the opportunity of destroying everything that he represents. And, Otis, by the way, next time put my robe on after I’m out of the pool.”

Public Service Announcement: Ok, here we go! Last night, Dwight Howard passed the 5,000-rebound plateau. Last night, Dwight Howard became the youngest player in NBA history to reach that milestone. Last night Dwight Howard broke the record held by Wilt Chamberlain. Hooray! Hooray Dwight Howard! But not so fast there Speedy Gonzalez. Arriba arriba! Andale andale! Read More »
