Game Of The Night: Bulls v. Hawks

By: josh q. public on: Tuesday, March 22, 2011 @3:15 pm

Game Of The Night: Bulls v. Hawks(TNT 8PM ET)  I have to watch this game because like my main man Carl Spackler always says, “To kill, you must know your enemy, and in this case my enemy is a varmint.  And a varmint will never quit – ever.”  My enemy is the Chicago Bulls.  They are what stands between my beloved Celtics and another trip to the NBA Finals.  They never quit – ever.  They didn’t quit last night.  In a 40-point rout that was their ninth win in 10 games, the Bulls  shot 61.3 percent from the floor. Eight Chicago players reached double-figures.  All eight of those players shot more than 50 percent from the field.  Yowza!  Know this:  In only one other game in franchise history (and that game was played 20 years and a day ago) have eight Bulls players scored in double-figures while hitting more than half of their field-goal attempts.   On March 20, 1991, Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen were among the eight Chicago players who turned the trick, and less than three months later, they won the team’s first NBA championship.  I’m just saying.  I’m just saying, get your popcorn ready!

Peace out homies!  Six Two and Even!

NBA Midseason Awards

I like Slam dunks take me to the hoop.  My favorite play is the alley oop.  I like the pick-and-roll, I like the give-and-go.  Cause it’s basketball, uh, Mister Kurtis Blow.  -Kurtis Blow

Ace may be the place with the helpful hardware but this is the place with the NBA hardware.  The place with the NBA midseason hardware.  The hardware that’s fun to wear.  More fun than a barrel of monkeys.  More fun than a clown on fire.  More fun than a sack of dead kittens.  More fun than all of that.  Like my main man the Big Fundamental always says:  “Good, better, best.  Never let it rest.  Until your good is better and your better is best.”  Who’s good?  Who’s better?  Who’s best?  After the jump, take a look for yourself.  Do it.              Read More »

Game Of The Night: Celtics v. Hawks

Game Of The Night: Celtics v. Hawks

(ESPN 8PM ET)  What did you expect?  You know me by now.  If the Celtics are on, that’s my game of the night.  That’s my claim of the night.  My claim to fame of the night.  Why shouldn’t it be?  Back in November, the Hawks defeated my beloved Boston Celtics at the Gahden.  Back in November, some wondered if it was a changing of the guard.  Those folks need to get a check up from the neck up.  Yes, those said same Hawks pushed Boston to the brink of elimination during the Celtics’ march to an NBA title in 2008.  To that, I say what my dear old Bubbe said.  I say, feh!  Double feh!  Tonight the C’s remain without the services of one Kevin Garnett.  But back is Paul Pierce.  Back is Rajon Rondo.  Back is the glory.  Get your popcorn ready!

Game Of The Night: Bulls v. Hawks

(ESPN 7PM ET)  NBA Basketball.  The Thrills.  The spills.  Oh, the humanity!  If you like onesided, lopsided, landslided, Jekyll and Hyded ball games, you’re gonna love this one.  There was a time we would have thought this game would be a game.  That time is long gone.  It was the best of times, it was the worst of times … it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness … we were all going direct to heaven, we were all going direct the other way.  The Hawks are on their way to heaven.  The Bulls are going direct the other way.  Get your popcorn ready!

Hawks 91 Heat 78:  I wanted the Heat in this one.   I wanted to see a Bron Bron v. D-Wade match-up.  I’m not gonna get it.  Not after what Joe Johnson done did.  Yesterday, Joe Johnson had twenty-seven big points.  Yesterday, Joe Johnson had five big boards and five big steals steals.  How big?  I’m glad you asked.       Read More »

Game Of The Night: Hawks v. Heat

Game Of The Night: Hawks v. Heat

(TNT 8PM ET)    If you like blowouts, this is the game for you.  On Saturday, the Heat stomped the ever-loving stuffings out of the Hawks.  Stomped ‘em 107-78 in the most lopsided game to date in a series that has been pretty gosh derned lopsided.  Atlanta won Game One, 90-64, and the Heat took Game Two, 108-93.  You have to go back to the 2005 Finals between the Pistons and the Spurs to find the last NBA playoff series in which each of the first three games was decided by 15-or-more points.  Get your popcorn ready!

Hawks 90  Heat 64:  Like Coach Norman Dale always says, “Five players on the floor functioning as one single unit.  Team, team, team.  No one more important that the other.”  Last night, the Hawks got double-digit scoring from all five of their starters in their victory over the Heat.  How about that?  Al Horford:  “It was everybody stepping up when we needed to step up.  That’s the kind of total team effort we know it’s going to take to keep playing.”  You got that right, Al.  Read More »

Thunder 96  Mavericks 87:  Rookie rookie who gets the cookie?  Russell, that’s who.  Russell’s the big winner.  Russell wins.  Last night, Russell Westbrook had a triple-double.  Triple trouble.  Last night Russell Westbrook became the first NBA rookie to earn a triple-double since Chris Paul had two in the 2005-06 season.  How about that?  How about this?   Only two other rookies in Oklahoma City/Seattle franchise history had triple-doubles.  Only Art Harris in 1968-69 and only Gary Payton in 1990-91.  Now go pick up my laundry, rook. Pacers 122  Kings 117:  Jumpstart my heart.  The new microwave.  Kevin Martin off the bench.  Kevin Martin fills it up for forty-five off the bench.  Downright giddy in the zone.  No King since Atlanta Hawk coach, Mike Woodson, has been that giddy coming off the bench.  Kansas City King Mike Woodson.  Thing about this is, it doesn’t matter.  Only thing that matters is winning.  Kings lost.  New microwave or no new microwave.  Read More »
