1.  Rich Ankiel.  How can you not love this story?  Rick Ankiel hit a three-run homer in his Major-League debut as an outfielder.  Yowza!  I remember when this cat first came up.  Pitching phenom.  USA Today High School Player of the Year.  1998.  Baseball America 1st team Minor League All-Star starting pitcher.  Voted the best pitching prospect in both the Carolina and Midwest leagues.  Cardinals Minor League Player of the Year.  1999.  USA Today and Baseball America Minor League Player of the Year.  Texas League All-Star pitcher.  Double-A All-Star starting pitcher.  Cardinals Minor League Player of the Year.  Baseball America 1st team Minor League All-Star starting pitcher.   Scouts considered him to be the best left-handed pitching prospect.  Ever!  Game one of the NLDS vs. the Braves.  Ankiel became unglued.  Unhinged.  It’s too late.  He’s gone too far.  He’s lost himself.  He’s come undone.  Never recovered.  Now this.  Rich Ankiel, this Bud’s for you!       Read More »
