Josh Q. Public: Guess who’s back? Back again? Shady’s back. Tell a friend. -Eminem
Public Service Announcement: Ok, here we go! Don’t call it a comeback! Ok, you can. You can call it a comeback. John Lackey has come back. Come back after missing the first six weeks of the season. Come back after missing the first six weeks of the season with a triceps injury. But like the Beach Boys always say: Don’t worry. Don’t worry baby. Everything will turn out all right. He is back. Back with a vengeance. Back to the future. Back in business. Back in business allowing only one earned run in eight innings last night. Back in business winning four straight. Lackey is now 5-1. Lackey now has a 1.65 earned run average. That 1.65 is the lowest in the majors since May 14. May 14, is the date of his season debut. Yowza! How about that? How about this? He has gone at least seven innings in every start since coming back. He has allowed two runs or fewer in seven of the eight. Since 2003, Lackey has gone a resounding 66-39. An astounding 66-39. A profounding 66-39. A profounding 66-39, capped by last season’s 19-9 mark with a League-best 3.01 ERA for an Angels team that captured the AL West Division. John Lackey has been the model of consistency. John Lackey took third in Cy voting last year. Don’t be too surprised if he takes home the hardware this year.
Public Spectacle:
Peace out homies. Six two and Even!
