Like my main Peter Griffin always sings, “B-b-b-bird, bird, bird, b-bird’s the word!” Here is Andrew Ference giving the Habs fans the middle finger after scoring Boston’s 2nd goal in Game 3 of the 2011 Stanley Cup Playoffs:
As the down time of college athletics enters its early stages, an interesting situation is brewing at the University of Miami. Yes, the self monikered “U”. Seems as if the U isn’t really a destination anymore, at least not for coaches. Or maybe athletic directors. And based on these decisions, maybe someday soon not even the talent they hope to recruit. Let’s catch up on the train wreck the last 4 months have been at the U Read More »
A sad trend has developed at the start of the 2011 baseball season, a trend that has probably been going on for awhile (just search you tube for proof). Simply put: Baseball Fans be Acting a Fool! It started opening day in Los Angeles when two coward Dodgers fans beat a San Francisco Giants fan in the parking lot at Dodgers Stadium. While the Giants fan battles in a hospital, his two attackers remain at large.
Fast forward to this past Saturday where a man was beaten and tasered by Pittsburgh Police while taking in the Pirates – Colorado Rockies game. Video After the jump.

So many tears I’ve cried. So much pain inside. But baby it ain’t over ’til it’s over. -Lenny Kravitz
Earl Wilson, the first black major leaguer to pitch an American League no-hitter, once said, “A baseball game is simply a nervous breakdown divided into nine innings.” Here it comes, here it comes, here it comes, here it comes. Here comes your nineteenth nervous breakdown. Actually, its only the Royals’ 4th nervous breakdown, but who’s counting? I’m counting. That’s who. By my count, after the Melkman delivered a single that drove in Chris Getz to end a game the Royals trailed 4-0 in the first inning, 6-4 in the eighth, all four of the Royals’ wins have come in their final at-bat. By my count, that matches an American League record. By my count, only two other AL teams have had their first four wins come in their final at-bat. Only the 1901 Tigers and only the 1989 Royals. How about that? Read More »
Kansas City Chiefs Linebacker Mike Vrabel was arrested Monday morning in an Indiana casino and charged with a class D felony. According to a report from ProFootballTalk.com, Vrabel is claimed to have taken 8 bottles of beer from a deli at the casino without paying.
Maybe Vrabel was just trying to get used to a courtroom, since, as a member of the NFL Players Association executive committee, he may be spending a lot of time in front of judges and lawyers this summer (via profootballtalk.com)
The college basketball season will come to an exciting (hopefully) close tonight with Butler and UConn squaring off in the title game. Both teams have probably overachieved in getting to this game, however there may not be two hotter teams in the country right now. Read More »
With one game left on the March Madness schedule we thought it would be appropriate to look back on the past 4 weeks and breakdown what worked, and what didn’t, from the CBS/Turner broadcast conglomerate.
First, it should be pointed out that the 2011 NCAA tournament enjoyed its highest overall television ratings in the past 17 years. This is obviously due to the combination of games broadcast across all of the Turner cable partners.
For all of you tennis fans out there (yes, both of you), we thought you would like to know that Rafa Nadal and Roger Federer played again last night. Not in a grand slam final as usual, this was the semi-finals of the Sony-Ericsson Open in Key Biscayne, Florida. Unfortunately for the Fed camp, this one wasn’t very close, with Rafa winning 6-3, 6-2. While some in the national media may be more focused on how soundly Nadal whipped Federer, we here at JQP are focused on who Nadal will face in the final on Sunday. That would be Novak Djokavic. This is really apropos of nothing, but it allows us an excuse to show these classic vids after the jump (NSFW-ish Language) Read More »

Little boy, in a baseball hat, stands in a field, with his ball and bat. Says “I am the greatest, player of them all.” Puts his bat on his shoulder, and tosses up his ball. -Kenny Rogers
Ok, here we go! Another opening day has come and gone. Cool Papa Bell once said, “I remember one game I got five hits and stole five bases, but none of it was written down because they didn’t bring the scorebook to the game that day.” Well, Cool Papa doesn’t have to worry about that today. I brought my scorebook. I’m writing it down. Read More »
