Fantasy Football: All Sleeper Team

Come see victory in a land called fantasy.  Loving life to a new degree.  Bring your mind to everlasting liberty,  -Earth Wind & Fire

Public Service Announcement:  Here it comes!  Here comes football season.  The thrills.  The spills.  Oh, the humanity!  Like my main man Knute Rockne always says, “Football is a game played with arms, legs and shoulders, but mostly from the neck up.”  Fantasy football is played from the neck up.  To win, you have to be smart.  Not like Fredo.  Like dumb.  You have to be smart to get respect.  That’s where I come in.  Everybody knows about Drew Brees.  Everybody knows about Adrian Peterson.  Everybody knows about Andre Johnson.  It’s the other guys you have to know about.  The sleepers I’m here to crow about.  So let’s get to this.  Like we always knew this.  The Fantasy Football All-Sleeper Team:

Quarterback

Matt Moore – Carolina Panthers

Last season, Matt Moore Moore took over for an injured Jake Delhomme over the final five games of last season.  All he did was carry the Panthers to a 4-1 record.  All he did was orchestrate a pair of three-touchdown outings.  All he did was complete 85 of 138 passes for 1,053 yards with eight touchdowns and only one interception.  This season, expect more of the same.  Linebacker Jon Beason:  “I call Matt the Gunslinger.”  I call him the sleeper quarterback of the year.

Wide Receivers

Golden Tate – Seattle Seahawks

I generally don’t believe in rookie wideouts but I generally don’t believe in  TJ Houshmandzadeh either.  Taken 60th overall, Tate could end up as the steal of the 2010 draft.  The deal of the 2010 draft.  The Cadillac automobile of the 2010 draft.  This kid can play.  Think Percy Harvin.  When he ain’t stealing doughnuts at three in the morning, he’s an electric playmaker.  Tate can stretch the field at flanker.  Tate can run routes out of the slot.  He can return kicks and punts and even man the wildcat.  This cat is loaded with potential.  He is a a guy you should be looking at.

Jacoby Jones – Houston Texans

Jacoby Jones may begin the season as the Texans’ third receiver but don’t expect him to stay there.  As we speak, Jones is challenging Kevin Walters for the starting opposite Andre Johnson.  Jacoby Jones is a speed guy.  A big play guy.   If you’re looking for a late round sleeper who could reach 1,000 yards this season then Jones could be your guy.

Running Backs

Montario Hardesty - Cleveland Browns

He’s dinged up now.  He has a twisted knee now.  But when Montario Hardesty returns, he will be fighting for the feature back role in Cleveland.  If the Browns didn’t think so, they would have locked up Jerome Harrison to a long-term deal.   If the Browns didn’t think so, they wouldn’t have traded three draft picks to move from the third to the second round and select Hardesty.  But they did what they did, and sooner or later, the job will go to Hardesty.

Tim Hightower – Arizona Cardinals

We all know Hightower’sbackfield mate, Beanie Wells, is expected to take on a larger role this season.  At least I know it, but I don’t care.  With Matt Leinart back at quarterback, there is going to  be a larger emphasis on the running game in Arizona.  And even if Wells handles the majority of duties pounding the ball between the tackles on running downs, it will be Hightower getting the rock when it counts.  He has always had a nose for the end zone always seems to find ways to produce even when his touches are limited.  I like touchdowns.  So should you.

Tight End

Rob Gronkowski - Patriots

Rob Gronkowski is big.  Rob Gronkowski is strong.  He’s a big strong tight end with good hands.  A big strong tight end with good hands makes some kind of target for Tom Brady.  Some kind of target in the end zone.  I said it before and I’ll say it again.  I like touchdowns and so should you.

Public Spectacle:

Peace out homies. Six two and Even!

Share the love baby!
