Of our elaborate plans, the end. Of everything that stands, the end. No safety or surprise, the end. I’ll never look into your eyes…again. -The Doors
Public Service Announcement: Ok, here we go! There was a time Tim Duncan was the best player in basketball. There was a time he earned our respect. A time he played like a man possessed. Played with a bulletproof vest. Put the rest of the league to the test. Yes I liked the Big Fundamental. He was the big number-one-damental. The big best player under-the-sundamental. That was then. Sadly, this is now. Sadly, we are now witnessing the beginning of the end. Last night, Tim Duncan made only 2 of 11 field goals, 18 percent, in the Spurs loss. In days gone by, we would have written that performance off as just a bad night. Unfortunately, that was his third bad night in 19 games. That was the third time in his last 19 games that Duncan had made less than 20 percent of his shots from the floor. That is something he did only six times in 947 games to that point in his career. As much as it pains me, I fear those numers are quite telling. As much as it pains me, I fear Tim Duncan is riding off into the sunset. His spurs aren’t so jingly anymore, his spurs aren’t so jangly anymore, as he goes ridin’ merrily along.
Public Spectacle:
