Tim Lincecum: Worth Every Penny

Have you heard about the new dance craze?  Listen to us, I’m sure you’ll be amazed.  It’s called Le Freak!  They’re doing it night and day.  Allow us, we’ll show you the way.  -Chic

Public Service Announcement:  Ok, here we go!  Tim Lincecum just got paid.  That’s right, he’s rich, bitch!  Deservedly so.  This kid throws big huge Uncle Charlies.  This kid throws fastballs with pinpoint precision.  This kid throws throws a nasty Bugs Bunny change.  Watch me paste ‘dis pathetic palooka with a powerful, paralyzing, perfect, pachydermous, percussion pitch.  This kid is truly something to behold.  The stuff legends are made.  The greatest legend of them all, Babe Ruth, once said, “As soon as I got out there I felt a strange relationship with the pitcher’s mound.  It was as if I’d been born out there.  Pitching just felt like the most natural thing in the world.  Striking out batters was easy.”  That my friends, is Tim Lincecum in a nutshell.

By now, you all know that freakishly good Tim Lincecum came to a preliminary agreement with the Giants on a two-year, $23 million contract.  You also know that makes him the highest-paid pitcher in his first year of arbitration eligibility, topping what my boy, Jonathan Papelbon, got last paid year.  Good for him.  If there’s a guy I want break the bank for, it’s this guy.

You know what the man says.  The man says pitching wins championships.  The man says you’re only as good as your next starting pitcher.  You better listen what the man says.  Listen to this, at just 26-years-young, Tim Lincecum has already won back-to-back Cy Young awards.  Yowza!  But you already knew that.  You’re not like everybody says… like dumb.  You’re smart and you want respect!

Ok, ok, you’re smart, but did you know this?  Did you know that Lincecum is only the fifth pitcher in major-league history to win more than twice as many games as he lost while striking out at least 250 batters and posting an ERA below 3.00 in each of two or more consecutive seasons?  Huh, did you know that?  Did you the other guys were Pedro Martinez (who had a four-year streak from 1997 through 2000), Randy Johnson (three seasons, 2000-02), Sandy Koufax (1965-66) and Roger Clemens (1997-98.)  Huh?  Didja?  Would you pay those guys that much money?  Of course you would.  So why not Timmy?  Why not now?

Public Spectacle:

Peace out homies.  Six two and Even!

Share the love baby!

Huh, did you know that?"__ Nope. But I did know about the 2 Cy Youngs.

Championships are won with pitching, but you have to have some other pieces, pieces wich the Giants dont have.
