Public Service Announcement: Ok, here we go! Now, I love me some Martin Brodeur as much as the next guy. I think he’s the best goalie I’ve ever seen. The best goalie there’s ever been. Better than a Mickey Mouse gumball machine. Thanks for the gumball, Mickey! But, unfortunately, I think that’s all his all-time wins by a goaltender record is. Mickey Mouse. However, last night, Satan’s Wallpaper inched one step closer to the real record. Brodeur’s 5-2 win against Nashville last night was the 500th regular-season regulation victory of his NHL career. Hooray Marty Brodeur! Alas, Brodeur is still second to Patrick Roy. Second to Roy in victories earned in regulation time (507-500). Just so you know, of Brodeur’s 591 career wins, 57 have come in overtime and 34 in shootouts. Just so you know, Roy had 44 overtime victories among his 551 career wins and he retired before the advent of the shootout. Just so you know, Brodeur should have the real record by season’s end.
