Public Service Announcement: Ok, here we go! Harmon Killebrew once said, “My father used to play with my brother and me in the yard. Mother would come out and say, ‘You’re tearing up the grass.’ ‘We’re not raising grass,’ Dad would reply. ‘We’re raising boys.’” Well, Mr. and Mrs. Sedin raised men.
Last night, Daniel Sedin, scored his third career hat trick and first of the season. Hooray Daniel Sedin! Earlier this season, his brother, Henrik, had a hat trick against Colorado. Hooray Henrik! How about that? How about this: They’re the first pair of brothers to have hat tricks for the same team in the same season since Peter and Marian Stastny did it for the Quebec Nordiques in 1982-83.
Since Daniel’s return from a broken foot, the Sedin twins have registered points in five consecutive games, and Henrik has at least two points in every one of those contests. The results moved Vancouver into a tie with the Columbus Blue Jackets for 10th place in the Western Conference. The results moved Vancouver just one point behind the Dallas Stars for the final playoff position. These two guys keep playing like this, it’ll be Columbus and Dallas looking up at them.
