Attention!: You may remember him from the finger wave he gave to players on countless occasions. That finger wave indicated players not to come back into the painted area while he was roaming the block.
Well, now you can catch Dikembe Mutombo in India, representing the NBA and it’s new court that will be unveiled. Mutombo has become the global ambassador for the NBA in it’s efforts to expand the game and its image across the globe. According to Sports Illustrated, the league has rennovated two new courts and also added a learning center for the likes of 1,500 people in India.
Mutombo was always active in the global exchange between the NBA and the world. Most notably, he took part in numerous projects in his native land of Africa. Some of the works already noted on Mutombo’s resume include opening a hospital in his native Congo, receiving the National Civil Rights Museum Sports Legacy Award, member of the World Sports Humanitarian Hall of Fame, and finally, a two-time winner of the J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award for excellent community service efforts.
