Brian Fighting Irish Kelly

Although it has not been officially announced yet, it looks like by the end of the week, Brian Kelly will be the new head coach of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Kelly moving to Notre Dame is a big step in his young coaching career, and it is pretty hard not to be happy for this hard-working, passionate, motivator, who has taken Cincinnati to the top of the Big East conference as well as near the top in the country.

Since taking over the reins at Cincinnati in December of 2006, the team has made a bowl game each year, and has been the Big East champion the past two years. He brought the Cincinnati Bearcats from a mid-level Big East team to a top tier national program by motivating his players to perform with maximum effort and fight. He instills belief in his players that they can beat any team in the country if they commit themselves to playing hard every down.

The conference will miss their 2-time Big East Coach of the Year and 2009 National Coach of the Year, but the team Kelly leaves behind is set-up to be successful for years to come. Kelly deserves all the praise he has gotten and will get, and now the rest of the country will get to see what the East already knows: Brian Kelly is one of the best coaches in the country. Kelly has yet to prove he can handle the pressure of the rabid fan base, but if there is one thing he knows, it is winning makes everybody happy. Let the Luck of the Irish be with him.

Share the love baby!
