SNF: X Men Do Not Play in the NFL

Mario Williams does not go to Professor Xavier’s School for the Gifted. But still, that would be pretty sick.

So I wrote a column earlier this week about the Rose Bowl and how useless it is. It’s gotten a lot of comments which is good. It means that 1: People are reading what I’m saying and 2: It’s getting people to think. The only thing that I don’t agree with is the argument of ratings. The TV Ratings system is so flawed and people skew ratings and use it to bolster an argument. Just because a game got huge ratings doesn’t mean it was a good game. I’m sure there are games that get terrible ratings. So does that mean it was a shitty game because nobody watched it. NO. Now on to more important matters.  Much more important matters.  Family Matters.  Fantasy Football Matters:

QBs

Start:

Kyle Orton (@KC): This used to be an AFC West marquee showdown but the Chiefs have gone down the shitter real fast so this game will be a nice stepping stone for the Broncos to make a push for the Wild Card.
Carson Palmer (@DET): After a tough game last week, Palmer and the Bengals have a VERY winnable game against the Lions. Palmer will be looking for 85 early and often in that game.
Philip Rivers (@CLE): Rivers is playing himself into the top tier of NFL QBs this season. He’s made Vincent Jackson an elite receiver and has turned the team around after a slow start. He’ll have another huge down against a shitty Cleveland defense
Jay Cutler (@STL): Everyone needs to follow @NotJayCutler on twitter. Whoever writes that is hilarious. Look it up. But start him against the Rams.

Sit:

Josh Freeman (@CAR): The Panthers are ranked third in pass defense, which was a shock to me. The Bucs aren’t that good but Freeman has showed some promise. I’d still sit him
Chad Henne (@NE): He looked awful last week and you can bet that the Pats will come out on fire after being torched by Brees and the Saints on Monday night.
Matt Leinart/Kurt Warner (@MIN): I wouldn’t start either one of these guys. Here’s why: If Leinart starts, his inexperience will show and the defense will eat him alive in the backfield. If Warner starts, he won’t be 100% because of post concussion symptoms and I wouldn’t risk it starting someone not fully healthy
Eli Manning (@DAL): Manning’s foot is still giving him problems. My Dad has planter fasciitis and trust me, it sucks. So He won’t be totally effective against “America’s Team”.

RBs

Start:

Cedric Benson (@DET): He’s been out a couple weeks but he’s healthy now and has a good game to test his health. Bernard Scott is out because of a turf toe so he’ll get a lot of touches.
Jonathan Stewart (@TB): Stewart has always been good against the Bucs. Williams is a game-time decision and as most fantasy owners know, J-Stew always blows up late in the season
LaDainian Tomlinson (@CLE): Since finding out his wife was pregnant, LT seems rejuvenated. He won’t be putting up the same numbers like his MVP season but he’s still a good fantasy back and will get owners points
Frank Gore (@SEA): Seattle isn’t spectacular against the run and Gore will pound the ball and rack up the points.

Sit:

Steven Jackson (@CHI): Jackson has admitted that his back still isn’t 100% and it concerned that the cold weather will affect it. He’s most likely a game-time decision so I wouldn’t risk it
Steve Slaton (@JAC): for whatever reason, Slaton doesn’t like holding on to the ball. Whenever he fumbles, Coach Kubiak puts him in time out. So I’d sit him
Beanie Wells/Tim Hightower (@MIN): Hightower is banged up. I’ve been saying it all year, you can’t stop the Viking’s front seven. They’re too damn good and they’re getting me a LOT of fantasy points this year.
Matt Forte (@STL): Yeah they’re playing the Rams but Forte has been sucking so much this season. I know fantasy owners are waiting for him to blow up but it’s not gonna happen.

WRs

Start:

Steve Smith (CAR)(@TB): Now that Mr. INT Jake Delhomme is on the bench with a finger “injury”. Smith should get more looks and make plays.
Jeremy Maclin (@ATL): DeSean Jackson is out with a head injury so Maclin will get a lot more looks because none of the other guys in the receiving corps can make plays like him.
Chris Chambers (@DEN): Chambers has become a favorite target for Cassel and has breathed some new life into that offense. He’s averaging 80 yards a game which is solid points especially if you’re in a PPR league.
Santonio Holmes (@OAK): Oakland’s secondary will be focused on Hines Ward so Holmes will be matched up against some scrub and he’ll go off.

Sit:

Calvin Johnson (@CIN): Cincy has a good defense and Megatron is a game-time decision. He still has knee problems so he won’t put up big numbers
T.J. Houshmandzadeh (@SF): The Niners will put Nate Clements on Housh and give him help with Dre Bly over the top essentially taking Housh out of the game.
Donald Driver (@BAL): The Ravens D is playing really well and I don’t think that he’ll have another repeat of two weeks ago.
Laveranues Coles (@DET): Coles is game time and Palmer will be looking at Ochocinco more and Coles might not get the looks

D/ST

Start:

San Diego Chargers (@CLE): The Browns played in the game of the year against the Lions but they won’t have a performance like that against a good Chargers defense
Pittsburgh Steelers (@OAK): Gradkowski has been serviceable for the Raiders but won’t fare well against a veteran Raiders defense
New England Patriots (@MIA): The Patriots have the wildcat figured out. No Ronnie Brown means the wildcat isn’t effective as normal
Minnesota Vikings (@ARI): Whoever the Cardinals start at QB, Jared Allen and Co. will cause problems in the backfield.

Sit:

Tennessee Titans (@IND): It’s hard to go against Peyton Manning. People are picking the Titans for the upset but I would still sit their D.
Jacksonville Jaguars (@HOU): Houston had a heartbreaking loss last week and will definitely bounce back against the Jags. Schaub to Johnson is all you need to know.
Washington Redskins (@NO): The Redskins have been playing really well but Drew Brees is playing for the MVP and carrying his team. He’ll have another huge game and add to his garish statistics
New York Giants (@DAL): The Cowboys need a statement game and after beating Philadelphia in Philly they can beat the Giants in New York.

Waiver Wire

Chris Redman (QB, Atlanta Hawks)(@PHI): Redman came in after Matty Ice went down with a turf toe and brought the team to victory. He’s a guy that’s always prepared and will put up some numbers for you.
Jason Avant (WR, Philadelphia Eagles)(@ATL): Avant is a good third option because DeSean Jackson is out with a concussion.

Leave it in the comments. Good luck this weekend!
