You Don’t Tug On Superman’s Cape

Public Service Announcement:  Ok, here we go!  Faster than a speeding bullet!  More powerful than a locomotive!  Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound!  Look!  Up in the sky!  It’s a bird!   It’s a plane!   It’s Superman!  Look!  Up In The Sky!  It’s a bird!   It’s a plane!  It’s Dwight Howard!  Yes, it’s Dwight Howard.  Strange visitor from another planet who came to earth with powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal men!
     

That’s right.  Dwight Howard has powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal men.  Dwight Howard, fighting for the right.  Dwight Howard, fighting with his might.  With the strength of ten ordinary men!  What?  I’m exaggerating?  What?  My hyperbole has gone too far?  To you, I give a resounding feh! 

To you, I say, last night, Dwight Howard finished with 25 points.  To you, I say, last night, Dwight Howard finished with 20 rebounds.  Not just any rebounds mind you.  Big rebounds.  Important rebounds.  Rebounds you mere mortals would never understand.  Four big, important offensive rebounds in the final three minutes of the game.  Four big, important offensive rebounds that killed any hopes whatsoever that the Milwaukee Bucks might have had of pulling ahead down the stretch.  That’s what heroes do.  They save the cheerleader.  They save the world.

Now, about those those 25 points and 20 rebounds.  To you, I say, that makes the eighth time in the last three seasons that Howard has had a game with at least 25 points and 20 rebounds.  To you, I say, all other NBA players combined have only seven such games since the start of the 2007-08 season.  To you, I say, only Big Al Jefferson (3) has done it more than once.  Yowza, yowza yowza! 

No, you don’t tug on Superman’s cape.  No, you don’t spit into the wind.  No, you don’t pull the mask off that ol’ Lone Ranger and you most definitely don’t mess around with Dwight Howard.
