On your mark, get set, let’s roll. That’s the theme day in and day out in the National Basketball Association. The league allows you to view games on an almost every night occasion, making for countless amounts of high flying plays that make the Sports Center highlights. Tonight there are six games on tap for the NBA fanatics of the universe to watch, but really only three matter. Why only three? Because the other three games feature teams that do indeed stink and will most likely not present any amount of competition for its competitors.
Looking into the Tuesday night schedule, here are the six games featured. Indiana vs. Toronto, Philadelphia vs. Washington, Golden State vs. Dallas, New Jersey vs. Denver, Oklahoma City vs. Utah and finally New York vs. LA Lakers. As you can see, the whole tri-state area is in action tonight and are the three teams not worth watching at all. So first and foremost, my television will not be broadcasting the Knicks, Sixers or Nets games due to personal preference and keeping my sanity. So, that leaves us three games to watch and really get some sense of enjoyment out of our evenings.
Indiana vs. Toronto poses a pretty good match up with T.J. Ford playing against his former team, the Raptors. Danny Granger is a scoring machine who is coming off an All-Star year last year. The Raptors are experiencing the injury bug with a banged up bench rotation that could prove costly until some what healthy again. Jarrett Jack has seen a lot of minutes and is proving to be a dependable talent for the Raptors. Tyler Hansbrough is the rookie in training for Indiana and has seen many of Mike Dunleavy’s minutes thus far. Tonight that can change as Dunleavy is set to make his return to the line up.
The Warriors head on the road to face Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavs. Simply put, the Mavs have a pretty good squad who seem to ball out every night. Nowitzki is capable of putting up 40 in the blink of an eye and with the direction of Jason Kidd at the point, this team has fine, tuned engine. Jason Terry provides another scoring punch with his quick jumpers and ability to get out and run. Can Golden State stop the Mavs offense in the half court? Who will match up well with the, “Big Dirk?” Monta Ellis was rumored to be on the trading market and then taken off the market. Stephen Jackson was traded to the Bobcats and Don Nelson has been cited talking about retirement. What a soap opera in the once playoff contending franchise. Stephen Curry needs to become a scorer and quick to help Ellis and Kalena Azubiuke if this team is going to compete.
Finally, Oklahoma City is on the road in Utah. I like the the young talent that the Thunder have put together and sincerely believe they have a ton of upside. Recently, they were knocked down a notch by the high flying Lakers on the road. Oh well, things happen and if the Thunder bounce back tonight and give themselves a chance to win the game, they can really shake up some scenarios moving forward this season. On the other hand, Utah has a point guard of it’s own who is one of the best in the business. Deron Williams is shifty, smooth and can stroke the jumper. Carlos Boozer is tough under neath and Mehmet Okur provides a tall, lanky big man who can shoot the three. Look for this game to shape up into a thriller full of fireworks.
