Hey hotshot, your’re a one man band. The Don on the block with a glock in your hand. -UB40
Public Service Announcement: Ok, here we go! Hockey Krishnas rejoice! Hockey hockey! Krishna Krishna! That’s right. Hockey talk. Big bad Bruins talk. Patrice Bergeron talk. Our little boy’s all grown up tonight! You know what, big boy? You’re grown up! You’re grown up! Yeahhhhhh! Dig that! Cuz you’re growns up and you’re growns up and you’re growns up. Finally. Finally it has happened to me, right in front of my face. My feelings can’t describe it. Finally Patrice Bergeron has become the Patrice Bergeron we all thought Patrice Bergeron should be.
All anyone can talk about these days is Sidney Crosby. All anyone can talk about these days is Alexander Ovechkin. All anyone can talk about these days is Evgeni Malkin. And well they should. Those are all some pretty sharp shooters. But I’m here to tell you, there’s a new young gun in town. Patrice Bergeron. A man on fire. En flambe! Scalding. Torrid.
The day Patrice Bergeron came to town was the day Joe Thornton became expendable. In just his second season, Bergeron, only 20 years old, led the Bruins with 31 goals and 73 points, and finished second on the team with 42 assists. But then, Bergeron was hit from behind by Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Randy Jones, in the deep corner of the rink, his head slamming hard into the boards. It took him a little while, but I do believe, Patrice Bergeron is back. Back in the back of a Cadillac. Number one with a bullet, he’s power pack.
Just last night, Patrice assisted on every goal by the Bruins in their 4-2 win at St. Louis. Yowza! Know this rink rats, Bergeron is the first player with four or more assists in a game in which he helped set up every Boston goal since March 22, 2003, when the aforementioned Joe Thornton had four assists in a 4-3 overtime win by the Bruins in Los Angeles. How about that?
How about this: Last night’s win was the third in a row for Boston. All on the road. All in thanks to one Patrice Bergeron. Thursday in Atlanta, he scored the only goal of the shootout in a 4-3 Boston victory. Friday in Buffalo, he deflected a Zdeno Chara shot for the overtime game-winner winner chicken dinner. And then there was last night.
Patrice Bergeron and the Big Bad Bruins traveling All Stars and Motor Kings show will wind its way to St. Paul, Minnesota where the Bruins will look to complete a perfect four-game road trip by defeating the Wild on Wednesday. What will Bergeron do for an encore? Watch for yourself. You won’t be disappointed.
Public Spectacle:
Peace out homies. Six two and Even!
Need More? Boston Bruins, NHL, Patrice Bergeron
