Brook Lopez: One Bright Spot

You´re a shinig star, no matter who you are.  Shining bright to see, what you can truly be.  What you can truly be.  -Earth Wind & Fire

Public Service Announcement:  Ok, here we go!  The Nets are bad.  The nets are abysmal.  They are abominable.  Atrocious.  If you say it loud enough, you’ll always sound precocious.  Um-diddle-diddle-um-diddleye!  However, there is one bright spot through all of this.  However, there is Brook Lopez.  You may rememeber Brook from the 2008 NCAA Tournament.  You may remember when hit the turnaround winner winner chicken dinner for Stanford at the buzzer against Marquette.  He didn’t hit the turnaround winner winner chicken dinner for the Nets last night.  In fact, with about three minutes left and the game still to be had,  Lopez missed a 12-foot turnaround on Roy Hibbert, and the Pacers applied the dagger.  But don’t you dare blame last night on Brook Lopez.  Don’t you dare!

No, don’t blame Brook.  Last night, Lopez had 26 big points.  Last night, Lopez had 16 huge rebounds.  Last night, Lopez had five tremendous blocked shots.  Yowza!  Last night, she said, “Oh, baby, don’t feel so down.  Oh, it turns me off, when I feel left out.”  Lopez ain’t down.  He don’t feel left out.

That marked the second time this season that Lopez has recorded 25+ points, 15+ rebounds and 5+ blocked shots in a game.  No other NBA player has even done that even once this season.  Furthermore, prior to this season, only three players in the Nets’ NBA history had recorded 25+ points, 15+ rebounds and 5+ blocked shots in a game.  Only Darnell Hillman in 1977 and only Derrick Coleman in 1994, woopty-damn-doo!  And Benoit Benjamin in 1994.

So take heart Nets fans, your team stinks.  Yes it does.  It stinks bad.  It stinks worse than a whorehouse on nickel day in July.  But at least you got Brook Lopez and that’s something.  Ain’t it?  Sure it is.

Public Spectacle:

Peace out homies.  Six two and Even!
