SNF: Hittin The Road

Seems like every other weekend, I’m at UMass so I wrote this column on
Friday night and made a few updates as injuries and things like that
got reported. I would like to thank _____ for letting me use their
computer this afternoon. Without further ado:

QBs

Start:

Kyle Orton (@WAS): D’Angelo Hall is no longer the shut down corner he was in his prime with Atlanta. So even though Orton isn’t a threat to go downfield, he still can make the midrange throws and let his receivers do the rest
Drew Brees (@STL): This is a no brainer. Seriously.
Vince Young (@BUF): Young is channeling the Vince Young that helped him win the National Championship. That’s a good QB to have.
Kurt Warner (@SEA): Warner has been all over the place so far this season but he’ll definitely have another positive game this week. The Seahawks don’t pose much of a challenge defensively so everyone will
get the ball

Sit:

Donovan McNabb (@SD): McNabb couldn’t get the ball in the hand of his biggest offensive weapon, DeSean Jackson, and Andy Reid showed why he isn’t that good of a head coach. San Diego is coming off an emotional win and will bring that momentum into this game
Aaron Rodgers (@DAL): Rodgers has been sacked a fuckload of times. But he still makes TD passes somehow. I don’t think he’ll have a good game against a stout Cowboy’s D
David Garrard (@NYJ): The Jets are coming off a bye and I can only imagine the profanities Rex Ryan was throwing at his defense for their performance the past 5 weeks. They’ll make some big plays against a Jags team that’s probably gonna be in LA next year
Ben Roethlisberger (@CIN): The Bengals are playing out of their minds and already have a comeback win against these Steelers. The Bengals will prepare better and design ways to shut Big Ben down

RBs

Start:

Adrian Peterson (@DET): Barring a huge injury, this game should be a layup.
DeAngelo Williams (@ATL): The Panthers have a much better running game than Atlanta’s previous opponent, the Washington Redskins. Williams always goes off late in the season and he’ll start during this game
Ray Rice (@CLE): Rice not only can pound it on the ground but can also get you catches if you’re in a PPR League. Cleveland’s front seven is a joke so Rice should get a lot of points
Ronnie Brown (@TB): Yes The Bucs beat the Packers last week but I don’t think they have any idea how to gameplan for The Wildcat. I’m predicting that Brown will have the Trifecta in this game. For those that don’t know, that’s throwing, catching and running for a TD all in the same game.

Sit:

Joseph Addai (@NE): The Pats always elevate their game when they face The Colts and I think Coach Belichick will have a new scheme to shut down Addai
Marshawn Lynch (@TEN): The Titans are on their way to righting the ship. They had a TD, 3 INTs 1 Fumble Recovery and 4 sacks. That’s not good for Lynch’s chances.
Steven Jackson (@NO): The Saints have given up a lot of points over the last couple weeks but will lock it down against a weak Rams offense. Jackson is the team’s whole offense and once the Saints shut him down, he’ll be reduced to blocking and getting checkdown passes
Ladell Betts (@DEN): Denver has been exposed the last couple weeks but will have a bounce back game against the Skins. Betts is getting his first start as a Redskin with Clinton Portis on the bench with a concussion

WRs

Start:

Braylan Edwards (@JAC): Edwards is out to prove that his poor performance in Cleveland is behind him. Look for him to have a huge game against the Jags
Randy Moss (@IND): No Bob Sanders. No Marlan Jackson. Moss will feast on these rookies in the secondary. Not to mention he’s a good 6 inches taller than either one of the replacements. He’ll go big in primetime
Davone Bess (@TB): He has better hands than Ginn and is a better downfield threat because of his time playing with MY BOY Colt Brennan at Hawai’i. Bess is better at bailing out Henne if he makes bad throws. I think he’s a better option than Ginn, unless you get return yards for him.
Miles Austin (@GB): Ok I’m a believer now. I thought the two games he had were flukes but he can come through when “America’s Team” needs him. He’s going against a Packers secondary that gave up three TD passes to a rookie QB last week. He’ll have big numbers on Sunday

Sit:

Mohamed Massaquoi (@BAL): I know he’s a solid third receiver but he’ll be shut down by the Ravens. Plus the fact that Quinn has been riding the bench for the last three week, he won’t get a lot of targets.
Jeremy Maclin (@SD): For whatever reason McNabb was shooting him daggers during last week’s game and a couple INTs were the result. The Chargers will gameplan against him and make sure he doesn’t get the ball
Mike Sims-Walker (@NYJ): Sims-Walker will most likely be covered by Darrelle Revis who’s emerging as one of the best cover corners in the league. Revis shut down Moss earlier this season so Sims-Walker shouldn’t be a problem for him
Santana Moss (@DEN): Moss hasn’t had a huge game since week 3 and Jason Campbell is looking primed to lose the starting job. Moss won’t get the targets that he’s used to

D/ST

Start:

New Orleans Saints (@STL): Once the corral Steven Jackson, the secondary won’t have a problem shutting down the pass game
Baltimore Ravens (@CLE): This is the type of game a struggling defense needs. They’ll pressure Brady Quinn early and often and get a bunch of sacks and maybe a couple INTs too
San Diego Chargers (@PHI): Reality Celebrity choker Shawne Merriman had his first sack in like 2 years, which is a good sign for the Bolts. If they can contain DeSean Jackson then they’ll have no problem shutting down the Eagles
Arizona Cardinals (@SEA): They have the guys to get pressure up front against Hasselbeck and disrupt the offense. I’m not sure which Seahawks team will show up. I think whichever one does., the Cards D will have a good game

Sit:

New England Patriots (@IND): I know I sound dumb for saying this but Peyton Manning has been making stars out of his no-name receivers and it’s hard to go against a two time MVP. So that’s why you should sit the Pats D
Philadelphia Eagles (@SD): Philip Rivers has made a star out of Vincent Jackson and last week’s comeback has breathed new life into that offense. It’ll be a long night for the E-A-G-L-E-S.
Pittsburgh Steelers (@CIN): Cedric Benson is in the MVP conversation, Carson and 85 are on the same page and that offense is firing on all cylinders. As tough as the Steelers are, they were embarrassed earlier in the season and The Bengals will do it again
Green Bay Packers (@DAL): So the Cowboys run the Wildcat with the third running back Tashard Choice. I don’t believe that the Pack have faced the Wildcat yet this season so that adds another wrinkle to the Cowboys offense. If you haven’t seen it, it’s hard to defend, ask the Patriots.

Waiver Wire:

Mike Wallace (WR, Pittsburgh Steelers)(@CIN): Wallace had his coming out party on Monday night and that means no more targets for Limas Sweed. Go get Wallace if he’s still available
Laveranues Coles (WR, Cincinatti Bengals)(@PIT): With Chris Henry out, Coles becomes the legitimate number two behind OchoCinco. If 85 is doubled then Palmer will look Coles’s way a lot

That’s all I got. Leave it in the comments and I hope everyone enjoys their Saturday. Later kids!

Share the love baby!
