Public Service Announcement: Ok, here we go! Hockey Krishnas rejoice! Hockey, hockey! Krishna Krishna! That’s right, hockey talk. Tomas Vokoun talk. Last night, Tomas Vokoun notched his third shutout in his last four games with a 1-0 shootout win against my beloved Big Bad Bruins. 3 shutouts in 4 games! Yikes! That’s pretty gosh darned good. This is better: Vokoun stopped all 36 shots the Bruins put on goal in regulation. Vokoun stopped all 4 shots the Bruins put on goal in overtime. He also turned away all four shootout attempts. For those of you keeping score at home, in the five seasons since the tiebreaker was introduced, only one other goaltender has posted a shutout with 40 or more saves in which he also blanked the opposition in a shootout. Only Chris Mason. Mason made 47 saves in regulation time and OT and then stopped both shootout attempts he faced to earn the Blues a 1-0 win at Nashville last year. How do you spell Vezina Trophy?
