Making mountains out of molehills and rockin’ some mo’ skills, butt naked beats with butt naked fills. I got the skills to pay the bills. I got the skills to pay the bills. -Beastie Boys
Public Service Announcement: Ok, here we go! Oh, to be young again. Like my main man Rod Stewart always says, “Be courageous and be brave, and in my heart you’ll always stay…forever young.” Last night Steve Nash looked forever young. Last night, Steve Nash had 21 points. Last night, Steve Nash had 20 assists. Big deal you say? So what you say? Sew buttons. I’ll tell you so what. I’ll tell you at age 35, Kid canada is the oldest NBA player with a 20-20 game since my boy Robert Parish had 21 points and 20 rebounds for the Celtics back in ’91. I’ll tell you Parish was 37 years old at the time. I’ll also tell you Nash is the oldest player in NBA history with a 20-20 game involving points and assists. How about that?
How about this: Last night, Nash ended an unusual league-wide streak. Before his performance, there had been 10 instances in the last 18 seasons in which an NBA player had at least 20 points and 20 or more assists in one game. In those instances, 10 different players (including Nash in a triple-OT game in January 2006) accounted for those 10 performances.
So do not take last for granted. If you witnessed it, you witnessed something truly special. If you witnessed it, you witnessed history.
