It’s the happiest day of the year. I LOVE Halloween. It’s an excuse to dress ridiculously and get absolutely hammered. I’m going to the happiest place on earth tonight, UMass Amherst, so without further ado:
QBs
Start:
Matt Schaub (@BUF): Though the Texans’ record doesn’t show it, Matt Schaub is putting up huge numbers. Buffalo won against a weak Carolina team last week so Houston shouldn’t have any problems
Jay Cutler (@CLE): I know he looked horrible last week but that’s the way Cutler’s season has been going. He’ll play really shitty in one week and then play really well the next week. The Cleveland Browns are a perfect rebound game for Cutler
Tony Romo (@SEA): He seems to have found a new favorite target in Miles Austin, which spells good things for “America’s Team”. Pair that with a schizophrenic Seahawks team and there’s a recipe for an easy Cowboys win
Philip Rivers (@OAK): At home against the Raiders. Rivers better have a huge day. Seriously, the Raiders are a joke
Sit:
Joe Flacco (@DEN): Josh McDaniels has the Denver D playing out of their minds. They’ve only let up 10 points in the second half ALL YEAR! The D-Line will get pressure on Flacco and force him into throws he doesn’t want to make
Vince Young (@JAC): I know a lot of people are tempted to start him because he was named the starter but I wouldn’t. He hasn’t seen extended game time since the pre season and we still don’t know his mental state.
Alex Smith (@IND): Smith did lead an impressive comeback last week but the Colts aren’t the Texans. Indy is firing on all cylinders which will result in a long day for the Niners
Donovan McNabb (@NYG): Yes the Giants collapsed against the Cardinals but McNabb got to face the trainwreck that is the Washington Redskins. The Giants are better than the Skin will ever be this season
RBs:
Start:
Joseph Addai (@SF): Though he splits carries with Donnie Brown, he still gets a lot of receptions and Manning in playing like the Terminator so Addai will get a lot of touches
Chris “Beanie” Wells (@CAR): Wells brought a toughness element to the Arizona running game with two unreal stiff arms against Giants defenders. Look for him to get the ball more against the Panthers
Maurice Jones-Drew (@TEN): Last time we saw the Titans, they were getting EMBARRASSED by the Patriots. MJD is no scrub so he’ll have a big day
Ronnie Brown (@NYJ): Brown and the Dolphins are continuing to evolve the Wildcat. They outsmarted Rex Ryan and the Jets last time they played on Monday Night look for them to do it again
Sit:
Ryan Grant (@MIN): I’m sure the Packers O-Line has nightmares about Jared Allen after their last meeting. If he and the Williams Wall can disrupt the timing then Grant’s getting nothing on the ground
Julius Jones (@DAL): DeMarcus ware just got PAID! That means he’ll either start playing to prove he earned that deal or he’ll mail it in now that he’s making a shitload of money. I think it’ll be the first which isn’t good the the ‘Hawks
Michael Turner (@NO): The Saints D gave up a ton of points last week but locked down in the second half to bring the Saints back to win. Turner hasn’t put up the numbers he has last year and the Saints are game planning to shut him down
Marshawn Lynch (@HOU): Lynch still hasn’t found his rhythm yet this season and Houston’s D isn’t ranked high but is playing teams tough
WRs
Start:
Brandon Marshall (@BAL): Marshall seems happy in Denver and Kyle Orton is looking like an NFL quarterback finally. Baltimore’s secondary isn’t as menacing as it’s been in the past so Marshall will make his owners happy
Calvin Johnson (@STL): Johnson is a game time decision but he’s practiced all week so it looks like he’ll go. It’s a great tune-up game for him and he’ll definitely put up numbers, no matter who’s throwing the ball
Steve Smith (NYG) (@PHI): The Giants’ Smith has been overshadowing the Panthers’ Smith this season. He’s had 3 quiet weeks but is still top 5 in total receiving yards.
Greg Jennings (@MIN): No Antoine Winfield means that Rodgers will be looking for Jennings a lot. He’ll be getting a lot of big gains because of the weakened secondary
Sit:
Derrick Mason (@DEN): Brian Dawkins and Champ Bailey have the secondary playing better than they ever have been. With those guys deep, Mason will have a tough time getting catches
Roddy White (@NO): Darren Sharper has 3 pick sixes this year. He’ll most likely be matched up against White so he’ll be looking for the ball
Michael Crabtree (@IND): I know he put up the best performance by a Niners receiver this year but the Colts will be ready for him. I just think that the Colts will step it up and shut him down
Steve Smith (CAR)(@ARI): He’s voiced his opinion about how he’s used in the offense, and he’s not pleased. He still hasn’t found the end zone yet and with Delhomme throwing picks like it’s his job, Smith won’t have a good day
D/ST
Start:
New York Giants (@PHI): The Giants have too many talented players to be losing games they way they have been. They’ll turn it around against the Eagles
Indianapolis Colts (@SF): The Colts are top 10 in total defense and they’re going against a middle of the road offense in the 49ers. They’ll have a good day
Chicago Bears (@CLE): The Browns traded away their best offensive weapon two weeks ago so they’ll be dead in the water against Da Bears. This will be a good confidence game for Chiacgo
San Diego Chargers (@OAK): The Raiders have had two fluke wins this year and their offense isn’t too scary so Shawne Merriman and the Bolts will be flying around the ball this week
Sit:
Baltimore Ravens (@DEN): The Broncos are playing really well and have been wearing out defenses late in the game which doesn’t spell good things for an aging Ravens D
Atlanta Falcons (@NO): Drew Brees. Jeremy Shockey. And a bunch of receivers who can ball means the Falcons D will be on the field a lot during this game
New York Jets (@MIA): Even though it’s a home game for the Jets, they still won’t figure out the Wildcat and lose to Ronnie Brown and Co. again
Carolina Panthers (@ARI): The Cardinals have way too many offensive weapons which will give the Panthers fits throughout the game
Waiver Wire:
Shonn Greene (RB, NYJ): When Leon Washington went down, Greene went bananas. He finished the day with 144 yards and 2 TDs. He’s a good option for the Jets
Hakeem Nicks (WR, NYG): He did have that fluke TD last week but Eli’s been finding him inside the red zone because he’s freakishly tall and has great hands. He’s good as a number two or a flex
Mike Bell (RB, NO): He’s gotten some time already this year but the Saints have a revolving door of RBs and Bell makes the most of his time on the field
Well that’s all I got. I have to get read and get all my stuff together for the trip to the Zoo. Leave it in the comments. Later kids!
