Oh, can’t stop this train from rolling. Oh, yo, you can’t take it down. No, never stop this locomotion on and on and on. No, no, you can’t bring me down. -Metallica
Public Service Announcement: Ok, here we go! You know I hate this. You know it hurts my metabolic rate, this. From here to the Empire State, this. But I’m not so sure anybody’s beating these Yankees. Not these Angels. Not nobody. Like my main man Earl Weaver always says, “The key to winning baseball games is pitching, fundamentals, and Alex Rodriguez.” Oh? It’s pitching, fundamentals, and three run homers? Same thing.
Yes sports fans, as much as it pains me, the Yankees are good. As much as it disdains me, the Yankees are good. As much as it ruptures my superior pulmonary vein me, the Yankees are good. Very good. World F@%king Champions good. They’re good because of two things. They’re good because of their pitching staff. They’re good because Alex Rodriguez is finally playing the Post Season baseball he’s been paid all that money to play Post Season baseball.
In this Post Season, Alex Rodriguez utterly destroyed the Minnesota Twins. With another RBI last night, in this Post Season, Alex Rodriguez has now knocked in runs in each of the first four games. Knock knock? Who’s there? Alex Rodriguez, bitch! In this Post Season, Alex Rodriguez tied a Yankees record. Derek Jeter ain’t the only one doing that these days. Only six other Yankees besides A-Rod have had at least one RBI in each of the team’s first four games of a postseason. The last Yankee to to do it was Moose Skowron in 1960. That’s a lot of Yankees in between. Reggie Jackson, Don Mattingly, Derek Jeter, Chris Chambliss Yankees in between.
As good as A-Rod has been, the pitching staff has been better. Like the man says, pitching wins championships. Like the man says, you’re only as good as your next starter. New York’s starting pitchers have thrown at least six innings and allowed no more than one earned run in each of the first four games of these here playoffs. That’s good. So good, it makes the Yankees only the fourth team to do that in the first four games of a postseason since earned runs were first kept – 1912 in the N.L., 1913 in the A.L. The three other teams to do it were the 1948 Indians (Bob Feller, Bob Lemon), 1981 Dodgers (Fernando Valenzuela, Burt Hooten) and 1990 Athletics (Dave Stewart, Bob Welch).
I hate this as much as you dear readers. I really do. I also really do not see the Yankees lose too many of these playoff games. Not with A-Rod. Not with this pitching. When does Celtics season start?

Peace out homies. Six two and Even!
Updated Stat: A-Rod’s big bomb last night was the third home run for A-Rod this postseason in the 7th inning or later that either erased a deficit, or broke a tie and put his team in the lead. Is he a true Yankee now? You bet your bippy he is. Even the fellowship of the miserable who call in to the Fan cannot deny what he’s done did. He’s now the other player with three such postseason homers in one season besides Troy Glaus for the Angels in 2002. You know what else Troy Glaus and the Angels did in 2002? Sure you do.
Need More? Alex Rodriguez, MLB, New York Yankees
