I’m surprised nobody got lit on fire during this video shoot. So what does this have to do with sports? This song is on the soundtrack to the LeBron James documentary ‘More Than A Game’. Even if you don’t like rap, check the video out to see old pictures and footage of LeBron. It’s pretty cool stuff. On to the picks
QB
Start:
Matt Ryan (@NE): The Pats defense is coming off a rough loss to the Jets and Matt Ryan has already had two solid fantasy weeks already. Look for him to continue that trend
Matt Schaub (@JAC): Schaub was also stiffed by the Jets in week 1 and he went off last week against the Tennessee Titans. He’ll have another huge week against a weak defense
Matthew Stafford (@WAS): The Redskins look like they’ve been sleepwalking through their first two weeks, Stafford and Co. have put up close to 40 points combined through two weeks. When he finds Megatron a.k.a. Calvin Johnson in the end zone, the Lions will win.
Mark Sanchez (@TEN): Schaub and the Texans lit them up last week. Sanchez and the Jets will ride the wave of confidence and put up big numbers this upcoming week
Sit:
Kyle Orton (@OAK): I’m pretty sure Kyle Orton has no idea where he is. Richard Seymour adds a toughness to the D-Line and Nnamdi Asomougha will shut down who ever he’s up against. Not a good day for Orton.
Trent Edwards (@NO): We know New Orleans can score but now they’ve decided to play some defense. Their defense is currently ranked 5th overall which isn’t good for Edwards or his receivers
Carson Palmer (@PIT): No Polamalu does’t mean the Steelers are in trouble. Their front line is still tough and their safeties hit harder than anyone
Philip Rivers (@MIA): The Dolphins lost a tough game against the Colts on Monday and if Joey Porter has anything to say, they won’t be losing to the Chargers this week
RB
Start:
Matt Forte (@SEA): The NFC West isn’t exactly known for defense. Couple that with Forte not making his owners happy and he’ll have a breakout game against the Seahawks
Ryan Grant (@STL): Draft pick Chris Long isn’t having the impact the Rams thought he would, so Grant should have a field day against the Rams
Brandon Jacobs (@TB): Fred Jackson lit them up for 163 last week. The Bucs aren’t physical up front and Jacobs is one of the best bruisers in the league. He’s get over 100 yards and keep racking up the points
Rashard Mendenhall (@CIN): Yes Cincy has 7 sacks through two games but those stats are skewed because one guy had 5 in one game. I don’t expect them to go off like that again so Mendenhall will have a good day
Sit:
Cedric Benson (@PIT): The Steelers’ front line is one of the toughest in the league. Benson won’t have much success
Steve Slaton (@JAC): Although the Jags defense isn’t that strong, allow me to let Drew Magary make my case for me:
“Fantasy Player That Deserves To Die A Slow, Painful Death
Steve Slaton: Nothing worse than seeing your player take part in a game where everyone scored a fucking shitload of fantasy points, thinking he scored a bunch, then checking the stat sheet and realizing he was THE ONE GODDAMN FUCK WHO DIDN’T HOLD UP HIS END OF THE BARGAIN. STEP UP YOUR GAME, STEVIE. OR I WILL SEND YOU BACK TO WEST FUCKING VIRGINIA.”
Drew’s column: Drew Magary’s Thursday Afternoon NFL Dick Joke Jamboroo is over at Deadspin.com
Frank Gore (@MIN): Now that the Williams Wall is allowed to play, Gore will have a tough time getting anything against those two
Marion Barber III(@CAR): I’m pretty sure he’ll be sitting out but the Cowboys are being vague about his playing status. Do yourself a favor and sit him
WR
Start:
Santonio Holmes (@CIN): Nobody in the Bengals secondary can contain him. He’ll have a huge day
Anyone on the Saints (@BUF): Brees does a good job of spreading the love. If you have any Saints receiver he’ll probably have 10 catches for 100 and a TD. It’s never bad.
Andre Johnson (@JAC): He and Schaub are on the same page and he’s going to make up for a disappointing performance in week 1
Greg Jennings (@STL): The Rams are a mess. Rodgers will target him a lot so he can make up for the false start at the end of the game against Cincy
Sit:
Justin Gage (@NYJ): Darrelle Revis has successfully shut down Andre Johnson and Randy Moss. It’s not a knock against Gage but Revis is playing unbelievable right now
Brandon Marshall (@OAK): Orton hasn’t gelled with his receivers yet so he targets Marshall a lot so the Raiders will double him and get a couple picks too
T.J. Houshmandzadeh (@CHI): Housh has been doing a lot of trash talking which won’t help him against a tough Bears D
D/ST
Start:
Baltimore Ravens (@CLE): Brady Quinn can’t find a rhythm yet and Ray Lewis is playing like he’s 25 again
Pittsburgh Steelers (@CIN): Their front line will get to Palmer and stuff the run
Dallas Cowboys (@CAR): The Cowboys will be tough against the run, forcing Delhomme to throw and possibly picking off mulitple passes
Chicago Bears (@SEA): Briggs and crew will shut down Housh and the Seahawks…no question
Sit:
San Francisco 49ers (@MIN): Peterson runs too tough for the Niners to stop him all game
Washinton Redskins (@DET): The ‘Skins don’t have anybody to match up with Megatron through the air so he’ll have a big day
New England Patriots (@ATL): Matty Ice will keep finding Tony Gonzalez in the red zone. Unless they stop that they’re in for a long day
Tennessee Titans (@NYJ): Sanchez is playing like a seasoned veteran and the front line is noticeably different without Haynesworth
Waiver Wire Pick-ups:
Steve Smith/Mario Manningham (WRs)(NYG): Pick up either one of these guys if they’re still free. They’ve both successfully filled the void left by Placcident Burress
Pierre Garcon (WR)(IND): Same deal as above. He seemed to fill in well for Marvin Harrison. I would stay away from Austin Collie because they use him to block more than they target him
Tashard Choice (RB)(DAL): If Barber plays or not, Choice’s touches will rise because of the Barber injury
