That's not a Jets jersey
So the San Francisco 49ers have accused the New York Jets of tampering with WR Michael Crabtree. The 49ers are accusing that the Jets contacted Crabtree’s agent in an attempt to negotiate a contract. This isn’t the first time the Jets have been accused of tampering.
When Super Bowl XXXIX MVP Deoin Branch wanted a new deal with the New England Patriots, he sat out of training camp. The Patriots gave Branch permission to contact certain teams about a contract only. They did not give permission for teams to negotiate trades. Yet, that’s what the Jets did. They allegedly told Branch what they would give up for him . That’s a no-no. Somehow, Roger Goodell cleared the Jets.
Did anyone in the Jets front office take Business Ethics? I know NFL teams aren’t supposed to be friends but they can at least practice a little professional courtesy. Don’t try and sign other people’s players. Don’t rat out other teams to the league (Spygate anyone?). Talk all the smack you want about playing the game on the field but don’t let that mentality creep up to the front office or a lot of people will lose their jobs. At least they should.
Need More? NFL, New York Jets
