You’re simply the best, better than all the rest, better than anyone, anyone
I’ve ever met. -Tina Turner
Public Service Announcement: Ok, here we go! We’re gonna win, Twins! We’re gonna score. We’re gonna win, Twins! Watch that baseball soar. That baseball sure soars when Mr. Joe Mauer hits it. Paul Molitor once sad, “Joe Mauer has the best swing I have ever seen.” Paul Molitor said that. Paul Molitor may have had the best swing I’ve ever seen. Mauer has been displaying that sweet swing ever since he appeared in Sports Illustrated’s Faces In The Crowd. He struck out only once during his four-year high school career. He also set a Minnesota high school record by going deep in seven consecutive games. Mauer caught for the Team USA Junior National team and was voted best hitter at the World Junior Baseball Championship. All that earned him a number one pick in the 2001 draft and he hasn’t slowed down since.
Two bombs last night. Count ‘em. Two! Get the papers, get the papers. Not only did he go all Jimmy Two Times, he also went three for five. Big deal you say? Who cares you say? I say that raises his batting average to .383. I say those bombs were his 24th and 25th bombs of the season. I also say the last four American League players prior to Mauer with at least 25 home runs and a .380 batting average this late in a season were Ted Williams (1941 and 1957), Joe DiMaggio (1939), Lou Gehrig (1930 and 1936), Babe Ruth (1931). If that ain’t an MVP, I don’t know what is. Mark Teixeira be damned.
Public Spectacle:
Peace out homies. Six two and Even!
Need More? Joe Mauer, MLB, Minnesota Twins

The MVP shouldn't be for the best hitter in the game. It should be for the most valuable contributor to a team that's going somewhere. Not for someone on a team that's lounging around in third in the AL Central.
listen you cake eating yanees lover, he's still most valuable to his team. where would they be without him.
[...] Joe Mauer: MVP — (Josh Q. Public) [...]
probably in 4th instead of third…
that's why Derek Sanderson Jeter should be the MVP
jeter does coke?
I guess we should then punish Jeter and the rest of Yankees stars because of the talent around them which is immense.
To me, MVP is how important that player is to his team. If you take him off the team, how much worse would that team be? Do postseason-bound teams get bonus point? Sure. I think Mauer just has to win it this year. It’s been an insane year for him between the offensive stats, the defense, and the way he handles the pitching staff.
[...] for Joe Mauer as the MVP here and here. As you know, we disagree. (Josh Q. Public & Twinkie [...]
Of course we should. One great player on a team of great players is obviously less valuable individually than one great player on a team with, at most, 3. Texiera has a HOFer ahead of him and a HOFer (roids pending) behind him in the lineup. He's got a starting staff where eight of the nine pitchers who've started a game for the yanks this year have an ERA+ over 100. Mauer has no HOFers anywhere unless Morneau keeps his pace up for another decade or so, and only Carl Pavano has been better than a league average pitcher among all the Twins' starters this year. Without Mauer, the Twins would be the Nats. Without Tex, the Yankees would still win the wild card. Look at the home/road splits. Look at Tex's month of April without A-rod. It's patently obvious who the best player is, and it's almost as obvious who's more valuable.
how did this become about f'n derek jeter
Jeter! He isnt even the best player on that team…Tex gets that honor. Batting .383…Career high 25 jacks, and I bet more are coming. Mauer is the best hitter and catcher in the AL. That is an elite class Mr. Mauer is in, did you all see those names?? Side note: Mauer was recruited to play football, could you imagine Mauer in an NFL jersey.
Joe Mauer I new he would get MVP he deservies it. I don't no why you would compare Jetter to Mauer. Mauer seems like a very nice guy. I don't say that about everyone else in the running.
My opinion. Kim
