Public Service Announcement:  Ok, here we go!  The Pittsburgh Pirates were once a proud franchise.  They were once a storied franchise.  A glorious, illustrious franchise.  They are five-time World Series Champions.  They played in the first modern World Series.  Oh, how the mighty have fallen.   

I’ll try to make this quick.  Make my shtick lickety split.  Les Expos de Montréal had guys like Gary Carter.  Les Expos de Montréal had guys like Rock Raines, Andre Dawson, Pedro Martinez, Larry Walker, Randy Johnson and Vlad Guerrero.  They didn’t have them for long.  Now I see the Pittsburgh Pirates doing much of the same and it hurts me.  Now I see Jason Bay, Xavier Nady, Nate McLouth and Damaso Marte going the way of Rusty Staub, Moises Alou and John Wettland.  Now I see Jack Wilson and Ian Snell traded to the Seattle Mariners for a bucket of balls.
