Money, it’s a gas. Grab that cash with both hands and make a stash. -Pink Floyd
Public Service Announcement: Ok, here we go! Like my main Sal always says, “You just got paid. Mookie, you’re a rich man. Now your life is set. You’ll never have another worry, a care in the world. Mookie, you’re wealthy, a fuckin’ Rockefeller.” Terrell Suggs is set. Terrell Suggs just got paid. A fuckin’ Rockefeller. The Baltimore Ravens just signed linebacker Terrell Suggs to one of the most lucrative contracts- six years, $63 million – in NFL history. His $33 million in bonus money tops that of all defensive players and ranks him behind only Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning, who received $34 million in bonuses. But makes no mistakes, Terrell Suggs earned that money.
The Ravens acquired Suggs with the 10th overall choice of the 2003 draft. Since that draft, Terrell has played in all 96 games for Baltimore. All 96! 101 if you count the playoffs. I am. I’m counting the playoffs. That streak might not impress Brett Favre. That streak might not impress the aforementioned six-five, 230-pound quarterback with the laser rocket arm. It may not impress them, but it should impress you. It should impress you because Suggs is the only defensive player selected in the 2003 draft who has never missed a game since entering the league. The only one.
And it’s not just the consecutive game streak that should impress you. Know this sports fans: Terrell Suggs is a playmaker. A haymaker. A makes my day maker. Do you feel lucky punk? Well, do ya? Last season, Suggs felt lucky. Last season, Suggs went to his third Pro Bowl after leading the Ravens with eight sacks and returning two interceptions for touchdowns. He has recorded 53 career sacks, which is second most in team history and ranks eighth in the NFL since 2003. Yowza! Terrell Suggs got his money the old fashioned way. He earned it.
Public Spectacle:
Peace out homies. Six two and Even!
