I’m crowning him the best pitcher in baseball.
Everybody’s yipping about Doc Halladay. Everybody’s yapping about Tim Lincecum. Yipping and yapping. Flipping and flapping. What’d those guys ever win? A rubber biscuit? Bow bow bow. I’m crowning Josh Beckett the best big game pitcher I’ve ever seen. The best big game pitcher there’s ever been. The best big game pitcher from here to Abelene. I’m crowning the guy who just got his 100th win the old fashioned way. I’m crowning the guy who earned it.

- He earned it by becoming the first pitcher to notch a career century-mark milestone win (#100, 200 or 300) with a complete-game shutout since Brad Radke back in ‘02.
- He earned it by becoming the first guy to do so with a shutout while allowing no more than three hits since David Wells back in ‘97.
- He earned it by becoming the first Red Sox pitcher to register his 100th major-league victory with a shutout since Sonny Siebert back in ‘71.
