Hey Hey Hey Its Phat Albert

Na, na, na, gonna have a good time.  Hey, hey, hey!  Na, na, na, gonna have a good time.  -Fat Albert

Public Service Announcement:  Ok, here we go!  Tony LaRussa once said, Albert Pujols is  “the perfect player.”  Tony LaRussa just may be right.  Albert Pujols is, and has been for some quite time, the National League’s best player.  Baseball’s best player.  Pujols has finished in the top 10 in the MVP voting in every one of his eight Major League seasons.  He has been fourth or better seven times.  He should have won it in ‘06.  He was robbed, robbed I tell ya, like Pedro was robbed in ‘99.  Sorry, I digress, I’m still bitter about that one.  Stupid I-Rod.

Where was I?  Oh ya, perfection.  Last night, Pujols scored his 1,000th career run in his 1,306th major-league game.  Sweet sassy molassy!  But wait.  Hold the phone.  There’s more.  He surpassed the 1,000-RBI mark back on April 25 of this year in game number 1,257.  Pretty neat, right?  How neat?  Glad you asked.

It’s so neat that only one other active player has reached both 1,000 RBIs and 1,000 runs scored in so few games from the start of his career.  Wanna know who that guy is?  C’mon, take a guess.  Yup, you guessed it.  That guy is none other than our beloved A-Broad.  Alex Rodriguez needed 1,301 games to reach four figures in each category.   He also needed some other stuff.  But I’m not here to talk about the past.  Ok, maybe a little.  Maybe just this:  Prior to A-Rod, the last major leaguer who reached 1,000 RBIs and 1,000 runs in so few games was Teddy Williams in 1949 (1,146 games).  Pretty, pretty, pretty, good.  Slavador Dali once said, “Have no fear of perfection, you’ll never reach it.”  Slavador Dali never saw Albert Pujols play the game of baseball.

Public Spectacle:

Peace out homies.  Six two and Even!

BallHype: hype it up!

Pujols is a great player, no doubt. But….I wouldn't be so sure that he has never been on the gas. Just a couple of years ago Clemens was thought to be crystal clean.

I'm not saying that Pujols is, I'm just sayin'. He is a very thick guy, he never gets injured. Remind you of anyone?

Yeah, it's a damn shame that MLB has come to this.

    Having Shield withdrawls most def.

NBC has a new cop show on Thurs nights after 30 Rock. I think it's called 'Southland'. Rip off of the Shield. But, it's kind of growing on me. I think it's off for the summer now though.
