Joe Mauer: Shades Of Rod Carew

I’ve got more action than my man John Woo and I’ve got mad hits like I was Rod Carew.  -Beastie Boys

Public Service Announcement: Ok, here we go!  Before Mark McGwire and Slammin’ Sammy Sosa started juicing balls out of the park like nobody’s business back in 1998, we used to celebrate a different type of player.  A different hype of player.  We used to smoke a different pipe of player.  Guys like Tony Gwynn.  Guys like George Brett.  And yes Virginia, guys like Rod Carew.  Now there’s new guy to celebrate.  Now there’s Joe Mauer.  Yesterday, Joe Mauer went 3-for-5 in the Twins‘ loss at Wrigley Field.  Yesterday, Joe Mauer raised his batting average to .414.  Yowza!  Mauer now has the most hits for any Twins player through his first 152 at-bats of a season since Rod Carew in 1975.  How about that?

Peace out homies.  Six two and Even!

BallHype: hype it up!
