Crosby & Malkin

Two of us riding nowhere; spending someone’s hard earned pay.  You and me Sunday driving; not arriving.  -The Beatles

Public Service Announcement:  Ok, here we go!  Sweet sassy molassy!  What do we have here?  I was just about to crown the Red Wings asses.  I was just about to use the “D” word.  Dynasty.  New York Islanders dynasty.  The last team to win four in a row dynasty.  Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin are having none of it.  Taking the fun out of it.  The money and run out of it.  Last night,  Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin performed many great signs and wonders.  If they keep on performing like that, there’ll be no “D” in Hockeytown USA.

Last night, Sydney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, each scored a goal.  They each scored a goal and just like that, we’re all tied up in the Stanley Cup Finals.  Know this Hockey Krishnas, Crosby and Malkin are the top two scorers in this here postseason.  Fifteen and fourteen goals apiece in this here postseason.  But did you know?  Did you know this was only the fourth time that they scored goals in the same game in this year’s playoffs?  One guy one night, the other the guy the other night.  It got them this far.  To go any farther, Crosby and Malkin, Malkin and Crosby, have to do what they did last night.  They can.

Crosby and Malkin each have thirty or more points in the postseason.  You know what that makes them?  Huh?  Do ya?  That makes them the first pair of teammates to do that since Mark Messier and Avon Old Farms’ own Brian Leetch for the 1994 Rangers.  The 60th night of the Stanley Cup playoffs, seven days shy of summer! The Big Apple is ripe with excitement!  You know what the 1994 Rangers done did, doncha?  Huh?  Doncha?  They done did this:

If you don’t like that, maybe this’ll float your boat:  Crosby and Malkin each have twelve multiple-point games in the playoffs.  Crosby and Malkin each have the most multiple-point games for any player since Mario Lemieux tied an NHL record with 14 in 1991 (set by Wayne Gretzky in 1988).  Hmm?  The Great One, blessed be He and Super Mario on the same team?  You do the math.
