Just take the ball and throw it where you want to. Throw strikes. Home plate don’t move. -Satchel Paige
Public Service Announcement: Ok, here we go! Quickly now. I’m busy. Very busy. But, as busy busy as I am, I’d be remiss if I didn’t rub it in a little. Jon Lester rubbed it in a little last night. I’ve always said we haven’t seen a lefty this good around here since Bruce Hurst. I guess I’ve always been wrong. Last night, Jon Lester struck out ten batters in Boston’s win at the new Yankee Stadium. Batter batter, swing batter. Prior to Lester, the last Red Sox left-hander to strike out at least ten Yankees in one game was Lefty Grove. Like Connie Mack always says, “All things considered, Grove is the best lefthander that ever walked on a pitcher’s slab. He surpasses everybody I have ever seen. He has more speed than any other lefthander in the game.” Grove K’d eleven New York batsmen at Fenway Park on September 6, 1936. How about that?
