The Cardinals are a charging. Let’s cheer them on their way. Let’s shout out with all our might, we’ll show ‘em how a team can fight! For victory and glory, will make our joy supreme. The pride of all St. Louis, our Cardinals baseballl team.
Public Service Announcement: Ok, here we go! Who woulda thunk it? Not me, I can tell you that. I didn’t think the St. Louis Cardinals would finish April with a 16-7 record. I didn’t think the St. Louis Cardinals would finish April with the best record in the major leagues. Know this sports fans, the last time the Cardinals had the best record in the majors at the end of April was back in 1968. You know what 1968 was, dontcha? 1968 was when the Redbirds were on their way to their second consecutive World Series appearance. That’s what 1968 was. Can they get there this year?
Like my main man Tony LaRussa always says, “You’ve got to get what you deserve.” The Cardinals deserve this. They put this team together the right way. They built this city on rock and roll. They built this city down on the farm.
-
From converted center fielder Skip Schumaker at second to converted pitcher Rick Ankiel in center field.
-
From hard-throwing relievers Chris Perez and Jason Motte, to staring pitcher Adam Wainwright, to closer Ryan Franklin.
-
From sluggers Chris Duncan and Albert Pujols himself, to catcher Yadier Molina.
The nucleus of this Cardinals baseball team is a product of their own farm system just like the nucleus of the juggernaut Yankees of the late nineties was a product of their own farm system. I know, I know. It’s still early. I know the Cards got off to a similarly fast start last year and ended up in 4th place. I also know the Cardinals are now the team to beat in the NL Central. Chicago Cubs who?
Public Spectacle:
Peace out homies. Six two and Even!
