Devils 1  Hurricanes 0:  They don’t call him The Door for the nothin’.  Knock knock.  Who’s there?  Martin Brodeur bitch!  Last night, Martin Brodeur was there tying Patrick Roy’s NHL record for most career shutouts in the playoffs.  Last night, Martin Brodeur was there making forty-four saves.  Forty-four!  Yowza!  Those forty-four saves were a personal high for Brodeur in a shutout, regular-season or playoffs.  Those forty-four saves were the most by any NHL goaltender in a regulation (non-overtime) 1-0 win since Ed Belfour made forty-eight saves in Game 5 of the 2000 Stanley Cup Final, with the Stars facing elimination at the hands of, you guessed it, the Devils.

Brewers 6  Phillies 1:  Yesterday, Dave Bush held Philadelphia hitless for 7 1/3 innings before pinch-hitter Matt Stairs homered off the foul pole.  Hooray Matt Stairs!  Phillies fans shouldn’t be cheering too loudly.  Their pitching staff gave up a coupla taters of their own.  Ryan Braun and Bill Hall each went yard for the Brewers.  The Fightin’ Phils have now allowed at least one bomb in each of the fourteen games they’ve played this season. You know what that is?  Yup, that’s a new major league record for games from the start of a season allowing a bomb.  The old record was thirteen games by the 2001 Brewers.  How about that?
