Yankees 7 Rays 2: Geez, this Nick Swisher character sure is something. The other day, he hits a bomb and pitches a scoreless inning in the same game. Yowza! Who does he think he is? Gordie Lockbaum? Then last night, he hit a solo home run and a double. En flambe!
En flambe setting a franchise record with nine extra-base hits in his first eight games with the Yankees. How about that? How about this? The pervious mark was seven by Roger Maris in 1960. How about this too? Swisher also tied the record for RBIs in his first eight games with the Yankees. A record set by Maris and tied by Nolan Ryan’s boy, Robin Ventura. I didn’t like this move for the Yankees. I was wrrrrrrr. I was wrrrrrrrr. At least so far.
Orioles 7 Rangers 5: And Bill James says there’s no such thing as clutch. Last night, Adam Jones hit a two-run bomb in the 10th inning for the winner winner chicken dinner. Big deal you say? Who cares you say? I say Jones is now 5-for-12 with six RBIs in his career in extra innings. I say Tuesday night’s home run may have been his first bomb in extra innings, but he is still clutch. And not for nothing, that one bomb? That’s s still one more than David Wright, Michael Young and Hideki Matsui combined.
