Bruins Canadiens: Rivalry Redux

And tomorrow we might not be together.  I’m no prophet and I don’t know nature’s ways.  So I’ll try and see into your eyes right now.  And stay right here ’cause these are the good old days.  -Carly Simon

Public Service Announcement:  Ok, here we go!  I’ve said time and time again, there’s no greater feeling than blogging when your teams are winning.  My team is winning.  The Big Bad Bruins are winning.  Winning to the tune of the number one seed in the East.  Winning to the tune a first round match-up with the hated Habs.  I gotta tell ya, like Tony! Toni! Toné!, it feels good.

Yes folks, the rivalry is back.  Two teams who were part of the Original Six.  Two teams who have played each other more times, in regular season play, than any other two currently existing teams in NHL history.  Two teams who do not like each other.  They do not like each other in a box.  They do not like each other with a fox.  Not in a house.  Not with a mouse.  They do not like each other here or there.  They do not like each other anywhere.

Maurice Richard did not like Hal Laycoe.  The Rocket’s head was cut wide open by Laycoe and Richard retaliated.  He retaliated by going after Laycoe with his stick.  Don Cherry did not like Guy LeFleur.  Guy Lafleur’s head was swathed in bandages at the end of the 1978 playoff series after Cherry’s “Lunch Pail Gang” high-sticked the holy heck out of Le Demon Blond.  And now, Milan Lucic does not like Mike Komisarek.  In their last meeting, Komisarek dumped Lucic from behind.  Lucic chased down his nemesis, put his hands around the defenseman’s head, and threw him down to the ice.  Eddie Shore style.  Old time hockey.

Through it all, the Canadiens have always seemed to get the better of my beloved Bruins.  Not this time.  This time, the Bruins come in to these here playoffs as the best team in the East.  The beasts of the East.  The Big Bad Bruins are back baby!  Get your popcorn ready!

Public Spectacle:

Peace out homies. Six two and Even!

Share the love baby!
