BU 2 UNH 1: Everybody’s yipping about UConn. Everybody’s yapping about Villanova. Yipping and yapping about Big East basketball. Just so you know, not that you care, their frozen counterparts are doing some things too. Hockey East is doing some things too.
Yesterday afternoon, BU’s Jason Lawrence hit the winner winner chicken dinner with 14.4 seconds remaining on the clock. Yesterday afternoon, BU’s Jason Lawrence sent BU to its first Frozen Four since 1997. There, they will meet Hockey East rival Vermont. With all this talk about Big East basketball, I thought it only fair to squawk about the Hockey East.
Cavaliers 102 Mavericks 74: Cleveland came storming back from a 15-point deficit to defeat the Mavericks yesterday. Cleveland came storming back and established a franchise record with its 12th consecutive win yesterday. The Cavaliers notched their first 12-game winning streak since entering the NBA in 1970-71. Good for them. Hooray Cleveland! Not so good for three other teams. Not so good for three franchises that have been in the league as long or longer and have still never won a dozen straight games. Not so good for the Warriors, Wizards and Clippers.
Michigan State 64 Louisville 52: Before this game, all I heard about was the vaunted Louisville defense. Before this game, all I heard about was the best defense in the Big East. I didn’t hear a gosh darned thing about the Michigan State defense. I didn’t hear a gosh darned thing about the team that held Louisville to fifty-two points. I didn’t hear a gosh darned thing about the team that held Rick Pitino to the fewest points in any of his fifty-one games in the NCAA Tournament. I didn’t hear anything about them. I’m hearing it now.
