The BF Goodrich All Stars

King of fools, king of fools.  When it comes around to love I always lose.  -Social Distortion

Public Service Announcement:  Ok, here we go!  Everybody knows about Blake Griffin.  Everybody glows about Hasheem Thabeet.  Everybody crows about Gerald Henderson.  But what about these guys?  What about the guys who couldn’t make the tournament.  Guys who never stood a chance.  Guys from the small schools.  Guys like Jake LaMotta. Guys born with a girl’s hands.  Guys who were never big enough to fight Joe Louis.  What about them?  The other guys.  What about the BF Goodrich All-Stars?
The BF Goodrich All Stars:

PG  David Holston-Chicago State:  The best things come in little packages.  Think Nate Robinson.  Think Nate Robinson with a Tim Hardaway crossover.  The Cougars’ point guard’s 26.6 points per game ranks third in the nation in college scoring.  His 4.6 threes ranks number one.  I’m not the only one who likes him.  Lindsay Hunter likes him too.  Hunter:  “All he needs is a chance.”

SG  Lester Hudson-Tennessee Martin:  Know this about Lester Hudson, the kid can shoot.  He can shoot from the perimeter.  He can shoot from mid-range.  He can shoot from any angle.  Shoots well enough to be the second leading scorer in the nation.  What exactly do you do, Mr. Number Two?  That’s my business.  Now if you’ll excuse, I have to go to the little boys’ room.  Lester Hudson don’t use no little boys’ room.  Lester Hudson is a big boy.  Tennesse-Martin’s Lester Hudson is the second leading scorer in the nation.  He deserves some admiration.  Some adoration.  Adulation.  Affirmation.  I’m here to give it to him.

C  John Bryant-Santa Clara:  John Bryant was just named the West Coast Conference’s Player of the Year.  John Bryant just broke Dennis Awtrey’s Santa Clara career rebounding record.  In the quarter finals of the WCC tournament, John Bryant just hauled in twenty-seven rebounds.  He outrebounded the entire San Diego team by three.  Yowza!  He broke the WCC tournament single-game record of 20, set by USF’s Darryl Johnson in 1992.  He had the most rebounds by a Division I player this season.  John Bryant is a lean mean rebounding machine.

SF  Drake Reed-Austin Peay:  Drake Reed attacks the basket.  Attacks the basket with tenacity.  He attacks it with ferocity, monstrosity, velocity.  Think Paul Pierce.  Think of a guy who is a physical player not afraid of contact.  So unafraid, they call him the Enforcer.  Do you feel lucky?  Well do ya, punk?

PF Tony Gaffney-UMass:  Knock ‘em down!  Roll ‘em around!  C’mon defense work!  Tony Gaffney knocks ‘em down.  Tony Gaffney rolls ‘em around.  Tony Gaffney works.  Worked hard enough to become the Atlantic-10′s Defensive Player of the Year.  Worked hard enough to rank third in the nation in blocked shots.  Worked hard enough to rank second in the nation in steals.  Workin’ nine to five, what a way to make a livin’.  Workin’ nine to five, it’s enough to drive you crazy if you let it.

Peace out homies.  Six two and Even!

Share the love baby!
