For though there’s no sound of the cannon; and though there’s no smoke in the sky, I’m dropping the gun and the sabre, and ready for battle am I. -Johnny Cash
Public Service Announcement: Ok, here we go! He’s delightful, he’s delicious, he’s delectable, he’s delirious, he’s de limit, he’s deluxe, he’s de-lovely. He’s D-Nice although he hates to admit it, he’s taking out you suckers and you don’t know how he did it. D-Nice is at it again. D-Nice is taking the world by storm again. He is just dominating this spring. He’s got world on a string. Sitting on a rainbow. Daisuke Matsuzaka is once again turning the World Baseball Classic into his own personal showcase.
Matsuzaka was brilliant yesterday. Matsuzaka just shut down previously undefeated Cuba yesterday. Matsuzaka took down his first five of eight strikeout victims looking yesterday. Yesterday, all Cuba’s troubles seemed so far away. Never got the bats off their shoulders. Just as well. Dice-K had everything working. Of his 86 pitches, 61 were strikes. He walked none. He allowed just five hits. As the kids like like to say, his stuff was filthy.
Now do you believe it? Like Christmas Eve it? From here to Tel Aviv it? All we heard was his stellar career in Japan meant nothing. All we heard was his MVP performance last time in the World Baseball Classic meant nothing. All we heard was he’s not worth the money. All we heard was Michael Corleone saying: “You’re nothing to me now. You’re not a brother, you’re not a friend. I don’t want to know you or what you do. I don’t want to see you at the hotels, I don’t want you near my house. When you see our mother, I want to know a day in advance, so I won’t be there. You understand?” Is he your brother now? Is he your friend now? Do you want to know him now?
Public Spectacle:
Peace out homies. Six two and Even!
