Dont Blame Marc Andre

Blame all your charms that melt in my arms, but don’t blame me.  -Nat King Cole

Public Service Announcement: Ok, here we go!  Last year, the Pittsburgh Penguins made it all the way to the Stanley Cup Finals.  Last year, the Pittsburgh Penguins were a very good hockey team.  Last year ain’t this year.  This year, the Penguins have two of the top three points leaders in the league.  So the problem’s gotta be the goalie, right?  The problem’s gotta be Marc-Andre Fleury, right?  That’s what I thought.  I thought you said are you all right, Spider.  I was like Fonzie.  I was wrrrr.  I was wrrr.  You know.

The problem with the Penguins is, they just don’t stop anybody.  Didn’t stop anybody last night.  Last night,  Marc-Andre Fleury stopped forty-six out of forty-seven shots on goal in the Penguins’ win over the Panthers.  Forty-seven!  That marks the league-high ninth time that Fleury has faced forty or more shots in a game this season.  You can’t expect to win hockey games like that.

Normally, the Penguins don’t win hockey games like that.  Before last night, Fleury was 0-4-3 in the first seven games in which he faced 40-plus shots this season.  Lately, he’s done better.  Lately, he’s won two such games in a seven-day span. You can’t expect this kid to stand on his head every night.  You gotta play some defense.  Old time hockey.  Eddie Shore hockey.  You gotta get out there on the ice and let ‘em know you’re there.  Get that fuckin’ stick in their side.  Let ‘em know you’re there!  Get that lumber in his teeth.  Let ‘em know you’re there!  That’s what you gotta do.

Public Spectacle:

Peace out homies.  Six two and Even!

BallHype: hype it up!

The Pens? Help block a shot for their goalie? *snort* I remember even in the glory days back in the early nineties the D being begged to help block them.
