Brass Bonanza:  Ok, here we go!  Just in case you didn’t know.  Maybe you didn’t hear about it, you’ve been away a long time.  They didn’t go up there and tell you.  They didn’t go up there and tell you the Brass Bonanza Award is given to the week’s biggest loser.  Brass Bonanza was the Hartford Whalers fight song.  Need I say more?     

The New York Rangers are not a very good hockey team  The New York Rangers are not a very good hockey team at all.  Because the New York rangers are not a very good hockey team, general manager Glen Sather fired head coach Tom Renney.  Renney was not the problem.  Sather is.

Last year, with Jaromir Jagr playing out of his mind, the Rangers were a fast, puck-pressure team that could score.  They had one of the best goaltenders in the league in Henrik Lundqvist, but just could not beat the Pittsburgh Penguins who were a just little bit faster and a little bit better.  What does Sather do?  Refuses to sign his best player.  Refuses to sign Jagr and loses him to Russia.  To Russia with love.  Then he signs Markus Naslund and Wade Redden for a boatload of money.  Money that could have paid for Jagr.  Sather can fire all the coaches he likes, until he is fired, the Rangers are going nowhere.
