Don’t tell me it’s not worth tryin’ for. You can’t tell me it’s not worth dyin’ for. You know it’s true. Everything I do, I do it for you. -Bryan Adams
Public Service Announcement: Ok, here we go! LeBron James. What a night, what a night. A late December back in ‘63 night. Double nickel night. Nine assist night. If only he had gotten that other assist. That tenth assist. Then it would really have been something. Then it would have been something special. Then it would have been history.
Bron Bron was credited with nine assists. That puts him in some pretty elite company. That puts him in Wilt Chamberlain company. That puts him in Oscar Robertson company. Rick Barry, Michael Jordan and Tony Parker company. Company as the only players in history to be credited with nine-or-more assists while scoring 55-or-more points in an NBA game. Yowza!
If only LeBron had just gotten had tenth assist; then he’d be in even eliter company. King James has already scored fifty points and dished out ten assists in one game twice in his career. So has Wilt. Elgin Baylor did it once. Once! You shouldn’t kick me in the balls, Mrs. Kelly. My sister kicked me in the balls once. Once!
Nate Archibald did it three times. Three is a magic number. Yes it is, it’s a magic number. Nate Archibald did it three times in one magical season. The 1972-73 season. As a member of the Kansas City-Omaha Kings, not only did Nate Tiny Archibald score fifty points and dish out ten assists in one game three times, he led the entire league in both scoring and assists. In both scoring and assists! For the entire season! Now that’s something.
Public Spectacle:
Peace out homies. Six two and Even!
