Reveille

Spurs 108  Nets 93:  Last night, the Spurs continued their domination of the Nets.  They own the Nets.  Who owns da Chiefs?  I dunno.  What I do know is, the Spurs have won thirteen consecutive games against the Nets.  What I do know is, that’s the longest current winning streak for any one NBA team against another.

Pretty impressive right?  Wanna know what else is impressive.  Huh?  Do ya?  Sure you do.  What else is impressive is the efficiency the Spurs played with last night.  Spanish Inquisition efficiency.  Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!  Our two weapons are fear and surprise…and ruthless efficiency.  The Spurs showed ruthless efficiency shooting .526 from the field.  The Spurs showed ruthless efficiency going  .900 from the charity stripe.  The Spurs showed ruthless efficiency committing only six turnovers.  Yowza!

San Antonio is the first team this season to shoot .500-or-better from the field, at least .900 from the line and commit no more than six turnovers in a game.  It is also the first time in San Antonio’s NBA history that they accomplished this feat.  But do the have a fanatical devotion to the pope?

Nuggets 99 Heat 82 :  The Nuggets couldn’t hit the side of a barn last night, yet they still won.  The Nuggets missed their first fifteen three-point field goal attempts last night, yet they still won.  The Nuggets were the second team this season to miss its first 15-or-more shots from downtown, yet they still won.  The Kings missed all fifteen of their shots from three-point range back in November, they lost.  The moral of the story?  Just win baby!

Blue Jackets 3  Avalalanche 0:  Rookie rookie, who gets the cookie?  Dan LaCosta does.  Who’s the big winner here tonight at the casino?  Huh?  Danny, that’s who.  Danny’s the big winner.  Danny wins.

Columbus goaltender Dan LaCosta, making the second start of his NHL career, recorded his first shutout with a 3-0 win over the Avalanche last night.  LaCosta was playing in place of fellow rookie Steve Mason, the NHL leader with seven shutouts this season.  The Blue Jackets’ eight shutouts by rookies are the most in one season by an NHL team since Montreal had eight, all by Ken Dryden, in 1971-72.  How about that?

Peace out homies.  Six two and Even!
