One Two Buckle My Shoe

Don’t you know that you are a shooting star, and all the world will love you just as long, just as long as you are.  -Bad Company

Public Service Announcement: Ok, here we go!  Remember just a little while ago these two crazy kids were all the rage?  Rage in the cage.  Remember Bill Simmons said the three defining debates of 2007 were:  A)  Did Tony Soprano die?  B)  Jessica Biel or Scarlett Johansson?  C)  Greg Oden or Kevin Durant?  Well, what say you now?  How now brown cow?

Last night Kevin Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder humiliated The Gigantic O and the Portland Trailblazers.  Humiliated them.  The Blazers were outhustled.  The Blazers were outclassed.  Outdone.  Outrun.  Outplayed and outshined.  Out everythinged.

In the first showdown hoedown between Kevin Durant and Greg Oden, all things pointed to Durant.  Everything’s coming up roses.  Not only did Durant win on the scoreboard, he won in the box score.  Durant filled it up buttercup for thirty-one big points.  That makes for the 12th time this season he’s filled up buttercup for thirty or more.  That makes the third straight game he’s filled up buttercup for thirty or more.  That makes Greg Oden baby shit compared to what this dude is doin’!

I know Durant is ahead of the game.  I know Oden leads all rookies in double-doubles.  I also know that at this point in time, Kevin Durant is a far superior NBA player than Greg Oden.  I also have the unshaken feeling that everytime Greg Oden steps onto the floor, he’s going to break his ankle.  I get the unshakable feeling he is Mr. Glass.  In a comic, you can tell who the arch-villain’s going to be.  I should’ve known way back when.  You know why, David?  Because of the kids.  They called me Mr. Glass.

And while the jury’s still out, while it is still early in the game, while you can’t count your chickens before they hatch, while all that stuff there, I’m saying this.  See this Stanley, this is this.  This ain’t something else.  I’m saying without a doubt, Kevin Durant is going to be a superstar in this league.  I ain’t saying that about Oden.  Not yet.

Public Spectacle:

Peace out homies.  Six two and Even!

Share the love baby!
